That's what has struck me a so weird, because the rules of collegiate, Olympic, and professional sports tend to be very strict about cheating and conflicts of interest. Yet usually, when provable cheating occurs, there are penalties but nobody dies. Nobody is made homeless, or sent to war. Yet we wink and nearly every out-of-bounds deception and scheme to frustrate fair and free elections. The Jan. 6th inquiries and trials are exceptional in that they happened at all, and (hard to ignore) exceptional because it was a full blown attempted coup d'etat; and many of the perps are still at it.

And yeah, even though they say what they are doing out loud. Even taking selfies with a crime in process. Corruption on an industrial scale, but so far democracy shows fight in her yet.
