During the HWB administration, other thermal water panels were installed on the grounds for utility use, along with some photovoltaic panels on roofs of maintenance buildings, but not on the White House. In 2010, Obama proposed installing photovoltaic panels on the WH, and panels were installed in 2013. This marked the first time solar electicity had been used for the Presidential quarters.
