I read the big announcement this afternoon. I thought sure it had to be a spoof like an Onion story. Made sure to look for legit news sources and found that sure enough, it was real. Thanks for mentioning it tonight to confirm this is indeed going down in the books as history. Gah!

Michael Bales's avatar

Counting down to the inevitable — and hilarious — Saturday Night Live skit this weekend. Also, given that Trump is technologically clueless, it's a safe bet that he has no idea what an NFT is.

Mike S's avatar

SNL will be good, no doubt, BUT, today's NY Times beautifully animated 3D Model, of where the stolen TOP SECRET, government, documents were not so very well hidden or secured, is much better and not in the least funny. It is a Federal Crime to steal top secret documents.

Gift link for everyone to see how bad Trump's theft was, how many people had access to the stolen documents and how awesome the NY Times 3D model designer is. One of the best NY Times publications I have seen in 40 years of reading that august newspaper.

Wow. Why didn't he just take the documents and lay them out on the beach? Wow, Just wow. What a slap in the face to America.

That's the cleverest thing I've read this week.

Art Klein's avatar

I reviewed the details of the Mar a Lago security relative to the classified documents with a growing sense of horror that this soulless, irresponsible Celebrity had open access to these matters in such a manner.

Many of those documents are abstracts representing covert operations just the name and nature probably reveal American representatives and efforts.

The criminal at the heart of this wretched business who failed at everything he was involved with except being a Manhattan TV Star demonstrates how impoverished of talented Governance the Republican Party has become.

Now the confused efforts to organize the next House of Representatives appears in danger of lasting until Easter which means Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will have to continue providing the remaining viable Government Branch.

Ellen's avatar

That is just brilliant. Anyone could go in search of a rest room and find top secret documents.

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

Thanks, Mike. Fascinating piece of work.

No need to wait for Saturday Michael... Late night hosts - especially my favorite, Stephen Colbert are 'all over it' and delighted to have old reliable 'orange douche' providing gaffe material ! NFT has a 'T' in it ; I feel he'll likely think it has something to do with him. Sad, but it's so pathetic I have to laugh !

MaryPat's avatar

Colbert was a HOOT!

Bonnie BW's avatar

I haven’t had coffee for a week. Is this what we’re talking about.

NFT means non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are generally created using the same type of programming used for cryptocurrencies. In simple terms these cryptographic assets are based on blockchain technology. They cannot be exchanged or traded equivalently like other cryptographic assets. Like Bitcoin or Ethereum

Sue Selman, OC/CA's avatar

Being ancient I just Googled to find out what on earth an NFT is. I’m thinking I’m not the only one here somewhat mystified. Now that I know, are there really going to be buyers? Mind boggling.

Maggie's avatar

In other words - imaginary objects!

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

I've got an association of ideas when I see the word "non-fungible" - it suggests poisonous mushrooms to me.

Maggie's avatar

I completely agree! In this instance, that sure does apply, right?

evelyn spiess's avatar

Me too. I read it wrong. I thought to myself, “I wouldn’t pay 9 cents much less 99 cents.” What a grifter! But then, he always has been and he always will be a con.

Michele's avatar

Asked my hubby if he was going to buy death star's grifter cards. He just laughed as should anyone.

Andrea Haynes's avatar

The price is $99, not 99 cents.

evelyn spiess's avatar

For clarification, yes I know that it is $99. But I read it wrong. Because my brain likely couldn’t fathom that $99 was correct.

K Barnes's avatar

Nah...you were clearly just being generous while thinking about the AFV. (actual face value)

Mike Tierney's avatar

Wait for the whole set. Don, Vlad, Modi, Orban, Bibi, Bolsanaro, Pence, Kavanaugh, Barrett, Jordan, McCarthy, Graham..........It will be bigly wonderful.

K Barnes's avatar

Lol. But $4.6 mill in less than 12 hours?!?!? Something sure stinks in Den-maralardo.

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

The AFV of an NFT...well, of course. Thanks to the NBN, I can look that up instantly, although my IQ doesn't grasp its significance.

Like most of us here on the LFAA comment section, I hooted with laughter when I read today’s newsletter. Now as I have time to think about it, and take in the reactions of -well, the world, - to this gross hawking of nothingness, I’m rather stopped in my tracks. We are buying into the ludicrously blatant headline stealing of the master of non-paid advertising. Biden had an INCREDIBLE week to boast about. His twitter handler poked fun and tried to tease away some of the engagement to relevant, actual accomplishment and BIG NEWS. But who are we talking, and posting, and allowing to suck up the oxygen in the room? AGAIN? This is not a judgement on any commenters. It is a curious observation on my own actions, as well as of those I’m reading. And I’m feeling like we are once again playing into the “Flood The Zone With Shit” game.

Ally House (Oregon)'s avatar

We never stopped playing the game.

Gus Koch (GA)'s avatar

MLRGRMI, It's why, for weeks now the TV hasn't been on in my house. All I have now is a twenty-one year old Radio Shack antenna pointed at Atlanta. Not even connected to my set. It's like chump never left on ALL media.

Cancelled everything but WAPO (and SubStack!) to get the fool out of my house.

Guess who they talk about?

Gus Koch (GA)'s avatar

Yeah, subscribed again to WAPO. I had to have at least one "paper." How else can I hear about mElon?

ShirleyT's avatar

My thought was 'he's insensed by the power of Dark Brandon.' LOL...can't even touch him! Bidon runs circles around the slob.

james wheaton (Jay)'s avatar

Me too! Haha. It seemed too good to be true. What a dullard. What an oaf.

Thing is - a Trump failure is not a failure of Trumpism. Trumpism is alive and well. Witness the Defense spending bill, where Republicans are forcing Democrats' hands WRT to repealing the vaccine mandate among the military. These fuc_ers just will not take this disease seriously. Then Desantis is starting up a Covid 19 response investigation??? And House means to depose Fauci for some grillings by Republican led committees? Bring it on. It is my hope that Trumpism will follow Trump himself into the dustbin of history. Sooner rather than later. It's going to take alot more "winning" for our current administration, with little to no bad luck or self-inflicted wounds, and an improving economy. Fingers crossed.

MaryPat's avatar

I still don't get why Republicans are so eager to kill their own voters.

Gus Koch (GA)'s avatar

The surviving deplorables will cheat and vote dead people.

Again....

Rudy Nyhoff's avatar

I agree. Trumpism isn't dead. Probably will never be because it represents a resolute distrust in government and the belief that the world is after me and thus conspiracy theories abound. Joe, a native son here in Delaware, is riding high or higher these days because he hires good people and the administration is firing on all cylinders. We will see if that "moron" McCarthy is elected Speaker in the House and then the spotlight is on the Republicans to produce and not backtrack and regurgitate old beefs. Hunter, the 2020 election, Mayorkas, even attempting to impeach the President himself are a losing strategy.

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” —Probably not Abraham Lincoln or Mark Twain.'

'As you may have noticed, Elon Musk is tweeting again. Or, rather, still.

The headline in the Washington Post captures our timeline: “Elon Musk, notorious Twitter troll, is now trolling Twitter itself.”

'The world’s richest man,' (perhaps, not anymore) '... embroiled in a complex, high-stakes takeover bid amid the falling share prices of his company, nevertheless takes time out for some social media lulz.'

'And, of course he is, because we live in an age of sh*tposting billionaires — phallic-obsessed rocketeers, who have decided that they should transform themselves into divas of performative assholery.'

'It’s good to be f-you rich in an age without guardrails or shame. The mega-rich can pose as populists, create memes, and even assume the personas of emotionally stunted adolescents. When you are a celebrity, they let you do anything, right?'

'This is, of course, a choice. Billionaires can actually be anyone they want to be. They can be philanthropists, they can be thought leaders, they can measure their words carefully. They can stay silent.' (CHARLIE SYKES - The Bulwark)

Just to be clear, Janet, I was actually reacting to the years from 2016 - 2020, then the antics, of a "not able to accept defeat" defeated ex president, dominating the news for clicks even as President Biden continues to move resolutely forward in an effort to restore sanity and productivity in our governing process. How did tfg embarrass us as a country? We can "count the ways" ad infinitum. The best, of course, being his current grift lowering himself to modeling a Halloween costume, side splittingly amusing in its photoshopped improvements. So, yes, rather than allow him any more air space in our heads, let's celebrate, instead, the extremely rocky journey our current president has navigated with grace, dignity and determination. Go BIDEN!!

If Trump is losing his luster now, just wait until the criminal charges starting and wounding him. It's a safe bet that all this bad new is continuing good news for DeSantis, who must feel like he won the Lotto. Let's wait and see, though, if Gov. Smarmy can truly excite the MAGA base with his monotone sleeping-pill speeches. There will end up being bitter GOP primary fights in which, I hope, they beat each other to a pulp.

cForrestM - PA's avatar

Let the GOP feed on themselves.

Rex Page (Left Coast)'s avatar

Yes. A WaPo reader (and probably a lot of other people) pointed out that if DeSantis beats Trump in a primary, Trump might run as a third-party candidate to take them all down with him.

cForrestM - PA's avatar

This would prove there is a God and he/she’s not an evangelical

Michael Bales's avatar

This would help the Democratic nominee.

Suz-an's avatar

Forgot this: apparently, he said during 2016 primary that if he didn't get nominated, he'd run independently. He was asked if he'd pledge to support whomever did get nomination. That was his response.

Dianna Beers's avatar

Oh I pray that it would be so!!

Mike S's avatar

Michael,

"If Trump is losing his luster now".

I know folks who love Trump far, far more than they love anything else in their lives. I remain completely baffled by this phenomenon, but, no longer discount it even slightly.

For those folks that I know in that state, they will probably not even know about the trading cards and second, if they do learn about them,

THEY WILL PURCHASE THEM.

So, we should be very, very careful at this point in our history. The parallels to the mid pre-history of the rise of the Nazi party remain stark and frightening.

Germany was laughing a Hitler at around this stage of the show as well.

But, those that loved Hitler? They really, really loved him.

I don't understand Trump's appeal and never did, but, I DO understand that for those who love Trump, their love for him will not be compromised or loosened by some trading cards.

Dave Dalton's avatar

I’ve lost family connections attempting to explain Hitler’s influence over “enough” German citizens in his systematic rise to power

How did he do it? Propaganda, charisma? Fighting that is like trying to convince the “fans” that World Wide Wrestling is scripted

K Barnes's avatar

How does a used car salesman sell a badly used car?

J. Nol's avatar

I recommend For Your Own Good: Hidden Cruelty in Child Rearing and the Roots of Violence, Alice Miller. She provides a credible psychological explanation for why so many Germans were ripe for a leader like Hitler.

Mike S's avatar

Thank you. I will put this on my (post Christmas) reading. Looks to be a fair bit dark for sure.

J. Nol's avatar

The Sunk Cost Fallacy seems to be also at play here.

EssBee's avatar

DeSantis will founder. You can't be more Trump than Trump without also being more criminal.

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

Why, Steph, do you think DeSmarmy (a name I stole from here....) would have any problem with being more criminal? He flew innocent people thousands of miles from Texas to FLA to Martha’s Vineyard. Not to mention the “Don’t Say Gay” law, etc. He is a YUGE creep. I feel sick just trying to imagine him as our president. OMG.

Jen Schaefer's avatar

Living in Fla, one of the headlines is that he’s loudly questioning the efficacy of Covid vaccines. Given that SO many needlessly died in this state directly due to his careless mask proposals, stifling of accurate numbers of infection and death rates, bullying of students on live TV at a press conference, calling mask-wearing ridiculous without knowing their health status, the sickening way he treats migrants and poc, the rewriting of educational texts, his “don’t say gay” proposal, and so much more-he continues to be responsible for people’s deaths and deteriorating levels of decency, civility, and respect. He is terrifying and feels emboldened bc of his re-election. He allows no one to question him or stand in his way.

Jack Lippman (FL-NY-NJ)'s avatar

Too many still underestimate the ignorance, gullibility and downright bigotry of Floridians. That's why, in the face of Democratic victories elsewhere, Demings and Crist lost and Republicans gained seats in the legislature and locally as well.

T L Mills's avatar

the Republicans of Florida are nuts. Little Ronnie will find a real campaign for President MUCH harder outside of Florida, where he cannot control the narrative nor favorably gerrymander the vote.

Happy Valley No More's avatar

“…Deteriorating levels of decency, civility, and respect…” and it all got worse when the morons of this country saw fit to elect Trump as president. That is something I will NEVER understand!!! Trump made it OK for people to act on their biases because he did. There is no decency, civility, or respect in that man and the GOP STILL can’t find the balls to speak up and out.

Mike S's avatar

He was a terrible baseball coach at Yale too.

This is what happens when we use white affirmative action to let sub par adademic performers into fancy schools that are faking about their own academic rigor.

DeSantis would not have lasted two weeks at Texas A&M.

Then, back home to work at McDonald's.

But at Yale??? The lowest grade is a C. Cannot flunk out.

PLUS. TODAY at Ivy? Average grade is an A.

EssBee's avatar

Oh. I did not mean to question his capacity for amoral or criminal behavior, though I honestly believe he has less criminal history under his belt than TFG. It's the atmosphere and the stomach for calling out and questioning that behavior, against the backdrop of prosecutions that are coming. Have you populated your indictment bingo card yet? Trump Co goes in the center square.

JDinTX's avatar

Lord, I hope. He is beyond redemption.

T L Mills's avatar

DeSantis simply does not have the "feral charisma" that allows drumpf to hold his MAGA cultists in their true believer state. It is drumpf's one true superpower.

Rose (WNY via OH/OR/MA/FL/CO)'s avatar

Yet, today’s PBS Newshour informed that a recent poll showed that 45% of Republicans would vote for Trump if he ran in 2024. That’s still a high percentage.

TCinLA's avatar

And if there are more than two opposition candidates to Trump, that 40% will guarantee he wins the primaries.

Michael Bales's avatar

Yes, it is high, disturbingly so considering his astounding failings, but not nearly enough to win. He's never going to recover the support he's lost among Independents, which are always the key to winning the White House. And Trump shows no signs of being able to win the GOP nomination.

TCinLA's avatar

All he has to do is what he did in 2016 - keep hold of his 30-40% and let the rest be divided up among however many run against him - cuz it won't just be DeSantis.

Laurie (MA, VT)'s avatar

love that - Gov. Swarmy. He is so monotone. I don’t see how people get fired up by him. He has a whiney, flat, mid-west nasal, boring tone. I can use the word “mid-west” because I am. I still can’t square how all these people support this bore from Flor - he is Harvard and Yale. So the people they elect can be from “elitist” universities but our policies should be grounded in guns and god?

Jack Lippman (FL-NY-NJ)'s avatar

Again, never underestimae the ignorance, gullibility and bigotry of Floridians.

Allenby's avatar

The Democrats will indict Trump just as soon as the Republicans are done with him. At which point the Democrats will save the Republican party from themselves. At which point Desantis can run full-Nazi.

'Hear ye, hear ye', Trump has gone NFT; he now selling as a non-fungible token, a '...unique digital identifier that cannot be copied, substituted, or subdivided, that is recorded in a blockchain, and that is used to certify authenticity and ownership.'

"MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! My official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection is here!" he posted, "These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career!"

"Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting," he continued in the post. "Only $99 each! Would make a great Christmas gift. Don't Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!"

While Trump's is peddling his NFTs, which may be selling for 99 cents on eBay very soon, 'Harvard names Claudine Gay as president, first Black person at helm.'

'Gay, 52, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, joined the Harvard faculty in 2006 as a professor of government and is now dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the Ivy League university in Cambridge, Mass.'

'She will take office on July 1, succeeding Lawrence S. Bacow, the university’s retiring president, Harvard said. Gay will be the second woman to serve as president.'

'The barrier-breaking appointment of Gay — the first person of color to be named as the university’s president — comes several months after Harvard released a searing report on the history of its entanglement with slavery and racial discrimination in prior centuries. In remarks in a live-streamed appearance at the university Thursday, Gay praised what she called Harvard’s “bold agenda for reckoning and repair.” (WAPO)

Getting back to Trump's wares, 'Much of the art in question depicts a muscly version of himself in idealized settings, like in a wrestling ring, in outer space, at a race track, and surrounded by gold bars that read "TRUMP." (People)

tf'g's "ANNOUNCEMENT" is low hanging fruit not worthy of discussion except perhaps in tales of grifting or abnormal psychology journals. HCR did refrence a real person with the moniker "Baked Alaska". This person is headed to jail for the 2nd time since J6. The J6 report to the Nation and referrals will soon be here. I suggest we keep our eye on those that have been prosecuted like 'Baked Alaska' & more than 950 others, those that will be prosected like tf'g, those that should be prosecuted such as at least 34 in Congress & the dates & terms of their parole or release.

How about another topic other than tfg? NBC News reports that the House has joined the Senate in unanimously directing the removal of the bust of Justice Roger Taney from the SCOTUS building to ne replaced by a bust of Thurgood Marshall. Taney authored the heinous, pre-Civil War Dred Scott decision. I would like to be there for Biden's singing of that Bill.

YAY GAY!!! Thanks for this great news Fern!

LeMoine Surlamont's avatar

MLRGRMI, who would have thunk that Trump has been concealing pecs and abs like that beneath his stuffed shirt? I swear to god, that card got me breathing hard, and I'm not even gay! HAW !!

Hahaha, so much levity in the early am

KELTIK_WARRIOR (VINCE T 🦁 )'s avatar

I have come to the conclusion that Donald J. Trump suffers from acute infantilism. Dementia already has set in. Next thing we know, he will be hawking decks of plastic playing cards.

Michael Bales's avatar

If you think he's pathetic now, wait until it dawns on him: "They don't love me anymore."

Mike S's avatar

Michael,

"They don't love me anymore".

I know folks who love Trump far, far more than they love anything else in their lives. I remain completely baffled by this phenomenon, but, no longer discount it even slightly.

For those folks that I know in that state, they will probably not even know about the trading cards and second, if they do llearn about them,

They really, really loved him; a love that never stopped. We bombed the love away.

I don't understand Trump's appeal and never did, but, I DO understand that for those who love Trump, their love for him will not be compromised or loosened by some trading cards.

J. Nol's avatar

Some of his appeal is probably based on the sunk cost fallacy, and some of it may be about how much tf'g is similar to themselves, or the men they have in their circle. And some of it is how he gave permission to give an fu to those who they see as taking away their privilege and allowing "those people" access to some of the goodies they thought were supposed to go to them - so a zero sum game. All of which reflects how many of them think more like children than adults.

Jen Schaefer's avatar

As we’ve all seen, some folks will throw their family away if they don’t agree with their Trump adoration. Sick and sad-but that’s where we are. I agree with you-we can’t laugh this away. The brainwashing is REAL and with numbers supporting him as they are, there is no remission in sight.

MLRGRMI's avatar

I have a feeling the jokes on us. I sum my opinion up realizing this “prank” is probably a perfect money laundering system.

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

KELTIK, never underestimate a grifter. He is so well-practiced from a lifetime of deceit this does not surprise me. He will get sold out. There are still tens of millions of Americans who voted for him. He knows his customers.....

Michele's avatar

Maybe a nice tarot deck with cards of his bros. Death cards of course since he is death star. Cards featuring whose under the bus. Cards featuring a bottle of ketchup and another showing some spatter.

Andrea Haynes's avatar

Suggesting that he has dementia is an insult to those, like my mother, who actually suffered with dementia. He does not suffer.

actually WE suffer from his acute malignant condition... among other things

JohnM upstateNY's avatar

Janet, what would make you consider his condition an ACUTE one??!

Can you identify a time or phase of his life when was he NOT a malignant narcissist? He was raised to be a narcissist by a narcissist father and his father's lawyer, Roy Cohn, the same one who facilitated Joe McCarthy in the 1950's until they too (McCarthy & Cohen) were brought down in infamy in the Army-McCarthy hearings.

I would love to see this list unfurled at the last hearing of the Jan 6th Committee this coming week, with their photo displayed, with name and state and position also displayed. Their treasonous activity deserves to be highlighted for all to see.

LaurieOregon's avatar

I imagine the 34 would take it as a compliment and love the publicity for their "cause" and careers. : - (

Joan (TX>DE)'s avatar

Thanks, Laurie, for this list. If not traitors, at least idiots who have NO business in elected office. I hope it’s published far and wide.

Integral Doc's avatar

Yes, the cards. But look at all the press coverage it has garnered him. That is his real pay. We need to totally ignore the orange man, stop being so obsessed with him. No attention, not even to make fun of him. We need to focus on more important issues like: where is the national voter's rights bill?

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

Steven, I agree. Ignoring him is his worst fear. But this one was too good not to make fun of! Laughing is a form of therapy, after all.....

Angelica's avatar

I swear the media made him president and continues to give him all the attention he wants. I totally agree. Let’s put our focus somewhere else.

Suz-an's avatar

You're so right, Steven. The entire time he was in office, no watching or clicking on anything, or reading about him at all, for these exact reasons. And it was easy to ignore him. Not feeding the insatiable desire for attention of any kind was delicious. And allowed more constructive and productive endeavors to flourish. Since he's been 'gone' for so long, getting a yuk or two seems less destructive to the country. YES! Where IS our national voter's rights bill??

Fred WI's avatar

That this clown show continues. Will there be a prequel to the madness, done as comedy? I'm gripping the arms of my paid-up seat in this traveling tent show. The cruelty done with elephants, baboons, and chimpanzees. Every town played, the tent get festooned with local indignataries playing clowns in the armour-plated clowncar.

Jen Schaefer's avatar

Yes! We need to remove his oxygen-his mental illness thru es on attention!!

JohnM upstateNY's avatar

YES, quite correct to ignore TFG and deprive him of oxygen,

yet...

how else will we come to understand how an electoral plurality of the whole country fell for his scams and his blather despite KNOWING what he had been and still was?!

Was it really all because for-profit media flourished on his divisive outrages planted and supported by the Russians?

OMG! The internet is FULL of take-offs of these cards and every one is more brilliant than the last one! It's times like these I love social media. What a complete and utter buffoon. A total moron. The man has REALLY lost touch with reality as never before. I saw the Filipkowski tweet and I thought it was a joke. Biden's comeback "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT" was beautifully played. I CAN'T WAIT to see what late night TV will do with this--Stephen Colbert will have a field day!

Meanwhile...Republicans' clown car continues its wild ride and Democrats are managing to hold steady and continue to go about the business of governing...

LeMoine Surlamont's avatar

I can't bear to watch Fox, even through gaps between my fingers. Has anyone noticed how Tucker Carlson is playing this? He probably doesn't dare mention it for fear of losing his normally scowling demeanor. This has to be the best comic relief to have popped up yet. Brokémon ! Whew! 😂

Marj's avatar

I don't think he has lost his touch at all. I believe as someone mentioned - 'he knows his customers'- I see him as a brilliant self promoter and marketing guy. I get get goose bumps each time I read this is where Hitler was at this time in his campaign. He killed 6 million plus Jews. Respectfully I see no humor in any of this. Just fright.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Ah yes...that’s for sure. Anything to get out of a conviction but sorry, Jack don’t play that game!

Andrea Haynes's avatar

And which lawyer would dare suggest that he plead insanity?

JohnM upstateNY's avatar

WHAT?!!

Our favorite "stable genius" pleading insanity?

Can't imagine it.

They should be called traitor cards. Can’t wait to see these ridiculous cards go the same way his steaks did!

I still can not wrap my head around the fact that this toxic sociopath sat in our White House. Nor can I believe he is still out there with his coat of Teflon protecting him. I just hope that the documents will prove to be his Waterloo and he will be indicted. And then, I can finally get a full night’s sleep. It’s been a rocky ride since 2016.

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

Keep your eye on Jack Smith, Barbara! I think he has his scissors out to clip that Teflon coat away. It is the “Emperor’s New Clothes”. OMG.

I hope you’re right about Jack Smith.

The French must be rolling in the streets laughing. It’s another distraction from the real crimes. Let us never forget he stole $TWO-HUNDRED FIFTY MILLION from his modest or low-income supporters…..this is small time peanuts. One should not take anything he says seriously, EXCEPT for his clear statements and actions to overthrow the US government. For that, he should spend what’s left of his harmful, unproductive-on-every-level, pathetic life in prison.
