Thank you for today's letter. Oh my, how quickly people forget. It very sad to realize how many people supporting the weird one on the right are old enough to have memory of this major black spot on our history. The ugly things Nixon did and ugly thing he was should never be forgotten.

nice to know that some remember though. Reminders are good!

Pardoning Nixon was a huge mistake. Allowing Trump to avoid a long prison term would be an even greater mistake. He must be locked up and never allowed to walk free again.

Wasn’t it a time…? And then today… Working now to make sure my infant granddaughter has the chance to look back similarly in a free country where she is an equal citizen….

I often wonder why Nixon went through so many machinations in order to guarantee a win that was already looking guaranteed.

Was there something he was really really scared about .Yes,there was something he should be very scared about.

President Johnson made a phone call to Senator Dickson { R-Illinois} to let him know that the intelligence community had discovered that Nixon had notified the Vietnamese South Vietnamese president to say: do not go to the peace table, and that he can give them a better deal if peace fails and he gains the election.

The South Vietnamese president did wait for that better deal.

On that phone call, Johnson and Dirksen noted that his actions could be considered treason.

That means that Nixon interfered in the peace effort plans in order to get elected, and therefore tricked the public into more war for his own success.

Nixon knew he did it. He may have feared that they found out about it and he may have been looking to make sure that any evidence was grabbed and destroyed prior to the next election in 1972.

In any case, Senator Dickson held Nixon’s future and reputation in his hands.

His biggest machinations in 1972 were with Edmund Muskie, who was leading Nixon in some polls before Nixon started his campaign of dirty tricks on the Maine Senator. His machinations effectively caused Muskie to drop out of the race, and led to the nomination of George McGovern--a hero of mine but easier for Nixon to beat.

So this simple history lesson... And should be shown and talked about every day till the 2024 election JUST to make sure they have some DAMN perspective on VOTING and the idea of how psychotic political politicians who lie, and clearly show the " Mean Spirited Foul Mouth Bully! " and were clearly shown. And even Today we have the same return of the sycophants and they're calling out a FAKE agenda to say the vacuous simple stupid and uninformed with an "Altered Reality", but even today some evil conduct is overlooked by the pathetic followers (MORONS ) who only say it against their own enemies a supposed 'American Political Opposition' and they're perceived wrong against them... Even today as with the past faithful Nioxin cult believers and Republicans who swallowed his lies and delusional propaganda We NOW HAVE THE SAME...

Thank you, Dr. Richardson, for summarizing these events so well. I have been trying to explain "watergate" to my daughter who was a young girl at the time and paying no attention. As usual,,you have done it so successfully!

I need to learn about WHY every president from Truman to Johnson, lied about Vietnam? What was valuable enough to all of them to allow them to squander so many young American lives, resulting in an utter distrust of our government? I need to understand.

Don't forget the tattoo on Roger Stone's back. Or Roger Stone's links to Trump.
