The “hot mic” issue could be a double-edged sword. I understand that the Harris campaign is assuming Trump will not be able to control himself and make crazy comments out of turn, but I worry that he will talk over Harris while she’s giving her answers to questions and what she is saying will get lost in all the blather.

Agreed. Trump talking over the other candidate is why the mics got muted in the first place. Trump was so intrusive in his interruptions that the other candidate couldn't answer their question without Trump changing the subject with all his gaslighting.

Which is why a strong moderator is necessary. Most are pushovers, they need to stand up and control the dialog. No more trump the bully as he was with Hillary!

I agree. A strong moderator is necessary

apparently Trump kept yelling in the debate with Biden even after his mike was turned off, which was disconcerting for Biden.

Dearest HCR!

Please offer your service to the Harris Walz folks to enlighten them about gish Gallop, and teach them ways to avoid being sucked down the drain by that speech pattern.

I believe if only Biden had had that information and had been trained to start every one of his sentences with "You're lying again!" he would not have failed.

If tRump can still manage to speak in Gish Gallop (I suspect he will have to use a lot of amphetamine) then Harris has to be ready to forcefully break his pattern.

Thank you in advance!!!!❣️

I don't know what state Trump is claiming his residency in, I'm assuming Florida. Do Florida's voting laws allow felons to vote? Is Trump eligible to vote in the upcoming election, considering that he is a felon now?

Expand full comment

Unfortunately Florida laws allow felons not convicted of a felony of murder or sexual abuse (which requires a special pardon to vote)and who are not incarcerated or have not been sentenced or have done their time and paid their restitution to vote. And a conviction in another state would make them ineligible to vote only if they were ineligible to vote in that state.

So, until he is sentenced he can vote. No wonder they're stalling it.

And that’s why even though he advocates against mail in and early voting he voted early himself to get around the sentencing issue.

Project 180 is a justice group that help felons earn their voting rights back, but they must serve their time and fulfil all reparations. I'm just not sure if he's been adjudicated to jail, or what other decisions the judge made, and also if tRump's still trying to block other punishment decisions?

I looked up Florida's rules on felons voting and it said people convicted of sex abuse or certain other crimes even if convicted in another state, can not restore their voting rights and are barred from voting. I don't believe Trump has been sentenced yet so I'm not sure where that leaves his voting eligibility?

Hot mikes, Donnies in a hot mess. How would Donnie respond to the $10 million bribe from Egypt?

Hot mic or not ... She's going to make his declining mental capacity obvious to everyone, point out his many lies, make him look like the fool he is, and make him get angry ... Maybe even walk out. He's just totally in over his head and he knows it 😁 He might, however, decide to chicken out, even if it makes him look weak. Better weak than weak, foolish, and confused ...

I agree with you about Trump’s mental decline, although I would think it is obvious at this point even without a debate. I’m not proud to admit it, but a part of me would like to see him have a meltdown on stage, perhaps falling to the floor in a tantrum and curling up in the fetal position. Or maybe flying into a rage and trying to physically assault VP Harris. Election over.

I’ll be surprised if Trump backs out of the debate - he needs it. He is starting to fall behind and needs to change the trajectory of the election, similar to Biden back in June. Unfortunately for Biden, that trajectory went in the wrong direction. Let’s hope it goes in the right direction for VP Harris. Debates are risky, but necessary, affairs. I don’t expect much useful new information on policy matters, but they are a stress test for candidates to show they can think on their feet and navigate a situation they do not control.

I pictured the exact same scenario with Von Shits in Pants flying off the handle throwing a tantrum and assaulting VP Harris. I’d like to see the media try to normalize that like they do with all of the Orange Terds other nonsensical behavior.

I’d like him foaming at the mouth! He’ll be so doped up he’ll be sleepimg on his feet like he was in the NY TRIAL

The problem with these ”debates “ is that they aren’t debates at all. Questions are asked but never really answered. Harris will try to answer but will probably skew off and deliver a canned answer.

Still, I think Harris is not going to gain much from the hot mic Trump will lie, accuse and lie again, mic on or off

Yesterday’s NYT had an insightful article “The Challenge of Interviewing Kamala Harris”. Maybe good background for tonight’s CNN interview. I’ve anticipated Prosecutor Harris destroying defendant Trump. Article suggests techniques powerful in a courtroom may be less effective in a debate.
