In my area on the southeastern NC coast, mail service has become very erratic since Louis DeJoy became Postmaster General. Ex. our most recent mail hold resulted in some mail held and other mail delivered. We always have to have neighbors check our mailbox. This situation occurs every time we need to pause mail delivery. Prior to DeJoy, the mail was not problematic. I'm doing early voting.

Mail service, once a thing that ran flawlessly and was rarely questioned, is a mess. Classic example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". DeJoy was so obviously installed to sabotage.

Agree, we have the same issue here in this part of PA. I donтАЩt trust Louis DeJoy a Trump appointee. Our neighbor is a postal carrier and he tells us stories of how bad things are since DeJoy has taken over and slashed workers rights. IтАЩll vote in person thank you!

Maureen, IтАЩm retired, and I rather enjoy voting in person. ItтАЩs my way of celebrating.

In my experience, people assume that every issue they have with the USPS is because of DeJoy. While he did some despicable things that may or may not have affected the 2020 election, the fact is that the service was in trouble long before his appointment in May 2020. In 2006, Congress passed a law that requires the postal service to fund in advance its health and retirement benefits for FIFTY years! No other government entity is required to meet that onerous requirement. As a result of the decrease in use of first class mail because of electronic communications (guilty!), their deficit is now in the billions. Instead of rescinding that insane requirement, Congress is allowing the Constitutionally mandated postal service to languish.

As for mail hold irregularities, that's something to take up with your mail carrier or local postmaster as it's the local personnel who sort and slot the mail.
