When the time comes, and it will come, when we can count the heroes during this fraught and painful part of our history, you will be among them. Please rest and rejuvenate and thank you, from the heart, for allowing me to wake up every day and read your words and to have hope that someone is paying attention. <3
Ditto except I'm more likely to read in the latter part of the day when I can go to bed more peacefully knowing there are people who are astute and watching.
Think of writing only on the weekdays, and take the weekend off. We do want you seven-days-a-week, but more than that, we want you healthy and rested. Please take this whole absurd world off your radar for two days each week. You would show us how to be in the world but not consumed by it. With the greatest respect!
Joining the chorus worried about the pace you have been keeping, and wishing you a good, peaceful rest. You must take care of yourself. Play hooky tomorrow or even more than that — we can wait. And we will be glad that you have taken time for rest and renewal!
Heather, an old Mainer suggested I follow you quite a while ago. He and I both arrived in the town of Greenwich, CT from the southwest suburbs of Chicago in July of 1968. We met at the local HS a few months later. 50+ years later we are still in communication and enjoy our shared beliefs. His introduction to you has made my wife and my three adult children (30+) all the better for knowing you. You are the port in this storm and thank you for that, I'd admit you are loved if not only by me. XOXOXO
I’m at this minute listening to you and the inimitable Bill Moyers talking about HTSWTCW, which I’m also enjoying. I’m delighted that Moyers now features you on BillMoyers.com.
I’m so appreciative of your Letters—the depth of your knowledge and understanding, your elegant, concise writing offer a perspective much richer and nuanced than I can have on my own. Please TCOY (take care of yourself). We need you.
Thank you for listening to your body. We need you, so please remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint, and pace yourself as necessary. Peaceful slumbers, and thank Buddy for that wonderful picture.
Beautiful sunrise, Heather! Thank you for the photo. And thank you for the phenomenal political and historical education you’ve been giving us every day for almost a year now. You deserve a good night’s sleep.
Always happy to know when you’re listening to your body and taking time for yourself. You are such a gift to our community! We care about your welfare. ❣️
Gorgeous photo! Thank you for sharing. Buddy Poland has quite the eye!
We know what hours you keep. There's a time stamp when your letter comes in. Sweet dreams! I'm too tired to read tonight anyway! We can all pace ourselves so we can stay sane, okay?

Agreed! You said it perfectly!

I look forward to the day when you can go fish with Buddy and be confident that it is the most significant thing happening.

And it’s nice that Bill Moyers also follows HCR’s Letters.
Rest well, my history Obi Wan. Trump Vader can wait for another day.
:D
You deserve your rest. Being a patriot takes many forms; thank you for all you do!

Thanks for all you do. Rest for now. Then strap in, as Bette Davis would say... It's going to be a bumpy ride!!
Oh, Bette Davis. Yes, it is going to be a bumpy ride. Let’s hope it’s not Canteen style WWII.
