I love reading your “Letters from an American”, and am less likely to experience the audio version. However, I may be an outlier, as I know many folks who love their audio, so I see this as a wonderful development. Please keep up the good work—you are one of the few purveyors of information whom I trust unreservedly.
Thank you Heather! I look forward to trying this while I have morning tea and take care of my pets. They will all send you thank you notes since they generally have to wait for breakfast while I read.
Great news! I personally like both delivery options, but my hope is that audio will attract an additional audience. Your knowledge and understanding are desperately needed right now.
Thanks. I’ll continue to read. My sister, though, who has vision issues, is relying more on Podcasts, and I so appreciate the extra effort to include the needs of more listeners.
I just listened to the audio version of you interviewing President Biden in 2022 and loved it. I was struck by what a great voice you have for doing interviews—nonpartisan if there is such a thing in audio. And how respectful you were with Biden while maintaining an equal footing. I don't think I can give up my mornings with your letters but I'll now be able to take you in the car when my day starts to early to read news. Thank you!
I understand why you’re doing this and appreciate the effort but i do prefer reading the letters so i can go back and re-read salient points and also extract telling arguments to put on facebook and remind folks to read the whole thing. But w probably very old-fashioned.
And thank you so much for last night in Camden. It was breathtaking and i think the entire audience would agree.
Those of us who love the written word won't lose anything. But adding podcasts for those want to listen on their commute or jog, or just are more into the audio medium will enlarge coverage of the important information HCR provides us
I actually found that the audio complements the written quite nicely -- a kind of supportive role, certainly helping to cement some of the key concepts and phrases.
Great to be able to listen to these just before sleeping. I would say though that you would be better off with no music than with what is used, which seems too light and a bit annoying. Something serious - even patriotic - might fit better.
I am grateful you are doing this, especially for those of us whose vision is a challenge. I will read your posts as long as I can, but it is so wonderful to know that I won't lose you if my vision gets much worse. However, my very first thought was "HOW can Heather add another thing to her plate?!"
Thank you! Best part is that you are reading them.
Oh, well that settles it. With the Professor reading them, they’ll be far easier to understand than the Substack voice.

I think i prefer the read version, but audio is good too, i can get breakfast or whatever done while listening.
I'm like you BettyLou, but also like you I know many folks who love their audio, so I also see this as a wonderful development!
I prefer reading, but some days I want to listen while on my morning walk. This is terrific!

You are … awesome. Thank you for adding yet another critical resource for your expertise and education. So grateful!
This has totally made my day! I have been wishing for this a long time. Thank you so much Heather. Deeply appreciate this and you!!

Yes, Yes, Yes! I live on audible while I make art for children's books!
Love it! Thank you Heather!!!
HIP HIP HOORAY!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!! ❤️
Great news!

A wonderful addition. But I agree. If I’ve read the written letter, I’m probably not going to listen to it again the following day.

I will listen before I read to copy parts I repost as headings when trying to interest new readers.
I do the same, Nancy.
And we can't share snippets to help spread the word and grow the following.
You can still read and repost sections of the letter.
Absolutely. Fantastic. You bring yourself to life (if that’s not too clumsy a way to say it). Love this.

Love the audio and definitely wish the music was not there or toned down considerably. The music is good but doesn’t work here. Thanks!

Good to see format options, new openings, willingness for ways to reach out more.
Myself, I'll stick to print, thank you.
