I agree that it’s an excellent retelling of how we arrived here, but with a hugely important exception: namely, that Democrats enabled the rise of corporate power, particularly by failing to enforce antitrust laws. Corporate consolidation has been a bipartisan initiative, and there are still many Dem apologists, notably Larry Summers, for our failure to rein in market power.
Fortunately, it seems as if a bipartisan consensus is forming around competition law / anti-trust law. And Biden has done more than any President in my lifetime to go after market power. I’m hoping it continues after the election.
