Senator Cory Booker made history. For over 24 hours, he stood in the defense of democracy. I have paid tribute to him with this poem: https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/cory-booker-is-senator-spartacus

There are now many good sub-stack authors I often read, but I never want to miss a day of HCR - thank you for your factual capture of the day’s most salient issues and providing effective ties to historical background. I was saddened to read of the FB ban … and yes, you do a world of good toward saving our democracy and for the mental health of those of us who completely despise the Trump/ Musk actions as well as those of the unqualified “Cabinet”.

Thank you, Heather - you are greatly appreciated!

Senator Booker is a hero. Let's hope the right was awake, listened and learned enough to switch and start screaming.

Or at least to twitch and start sweating, if not something even worse. Loopy Laura Loomer says to can the NSA chief and Deputy? WTF? This is bigger than Loopy Laura! An obvious, (by its stupidiosity alone), suggests that there’s something much darker in play. In any case, dumbing down the NSA just continues the Humpty Dumpty Trumpty imperative to play second fiddle to any goddamned thing that Vlad insists upon; similar to an employer-employee situational dynamics relationship. For example, what if they were both in a room together, (of course, no official notes taken by the Americans - just speculating here), and they both just by ego alone considered themselves to be easily among the then-known “Masters of the (Earth, and otherwise the Known Universe), then they, between themselves and the DogeElon and the Emperor Xi, could decide for the rest of us, for the rest of our lives (similar to Yalta, or the much later Minsk agreements?). Or the even more recent failures to any agreements ever made by Russia? Humpty D. Trumpty has already failed to stop Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, because he is giving all the carrots to Russia and all the sticks to Ukraine. Slava Ukraine! In the U.S.A., we are also now under attack by Russian agents and employees, at the highest Executive Department levels in our history! Heck: One would think that Bad Co-King Donny, having been mentored by Roy Cohn, would have an allergic reaction every time he came close to a communist! But instead, Humpty cannot bend over backward enough to satisfy his boss Vlad. By the way: since the Commander in Chief is now taking instructions on National Security and Human Resources from Loopy Laura Loomer, what does she know about national security? Sounds like a fake cover story. This suggest to me that they have a war plan, which they have chosen not to share with the deep state; however of which Ratcliffe may know about. NPR reported today that the NSA generates a large part of the daily briefing for the Co-King; so what’s the real reason for decapitating the NSA, while the two people they burned were involved in critical investigations? Something stinks, and it’s not in Denmark! So, there could be even more bizarre surprises forthcoming, possibly even before Easter (or, possibly to be publicized simultaneously to Christian’s religious dates).

Wonder what stuff they will flood the zone with around July 4?

Also: why does Channel 7 in the DC Metro area, and also Channel 4, carry multiple daily commercial advertisements “trumpeting” the great achievements of Co-King Humpty D. Trumpty? Who is paying for these ads: we, the taxpayers? This is propaganda.

Anyway, we all owe you, professor, an endless debt of gratitude, for trying to make us, and the future AI Overlords to understand why human (and future AI’s?) civilization liberties, rights and rule of law/due process of law must be preserved! Time to shovel donations to the A CLU, which I will do myself!

Thank you for reviewing so effectively Sen. Cory Booker’s courageous and monumental presentation of America’s “moral moment” for our people and nation.

And all praise and admiration for Sen. Booker and his allies who supported him with questions giving him brief moments of respite and opportunities for further information. This was leadership by example, which we need to see much more!

You are always lovely to hear. Thank you for covering the great Cory Booker in an historical context. And I liked your quote from Judge Crawford at the end.

Way to go Senator Booker! And way to go to you, HCR, for your report. I wish he were our president! I hope he will run in 2028. "Good Trouble" indeed. What a contrast with Sen. Strom Thurmond's filibuster.

Others may know how Senator Cory Booker often speaks of love—eloquently, and signs off in his communications, “with love and gratitude.”

In mid-March, I wrote to Cory Booker. Heartbroken, for the state of our country and our world, I closed my letter with this: “I keep hoping that love will prevail. And then I wonder.”

Seems Cory’s love was on full display, for 25 hours and 5 minutes. May it be so for us all.

For anyone who may feel inclined, the following is phone contact information for Senator Booker’s offices.

Heather, You (and Cory) did it again. I'm so proud of the good people who are willing to cause 'good trouble" in this great country of ours. Thank you.

My comment isn’t pertinent to Sen. Booker’s landmark speech.

These questions arose in my mind, as I watched the results of the Supreme Court election in Wisconsin, being posted on various news channels:

If Muskrat Meddling was removed from the equation, what would the results have been?

And how would the turnout for each party have been different?

How many voters were at the polls purely to protest Musk's attempt to affect the election, but otherwise would have stayed home?

How many who voted for Trump in the 2024 Election switched sides, due to the Musk factor?

How many who voted for Trump in the 2024 Election switched sides, because they object to the President's current policies?

Of course, we'll never have any definitive answers to any of the above questions. But it is intriguing to ponder whether Susan Crawford might have lost if Musk had minded his own business, or.........maybe her margin of victory would have been greater. The only thing I feel confident about, is that the turnout on both sides was substantially greater than it would have been without Musk shining a spotlight on the race.
