Sounds like you also live in MA. I can't see how the state could take away your house - as long as it was also in your name. A person can qualify for Medicaid - even move to a care facility and still retain ownership of a home. My understanding is that a home is protected. But it would probably be a good idea to get a legal opinion. Most towns have an attorney who volunteers to offer basic advice for one or two questions.
