Remember McCarthyism, all the terrible rhetoric, and spawn violence, over racial integration in the South? and more ... dysfunction is an understatement for what is happening in the GOP these days. It has virtually bowed out from democracy ie majority rule itself - the unbalanced SC is a pivotal, but only one indication of that. Tossing out reps en masse would be a political catastrophe. We're back in the Civil War era when that happens.
