There is a Democratic President who happens to have veto power, a Democratic Senate, an extremely capable Cabinet and we are internationally respected once again. At this very moment the Government of the United States of America is functioning exactly as it should. All 3 branches are still separate and equal.
As to the House of Representatives. There are 435 members in the House. Of these 435 members:
Committee on the Judiciary:
24 Republicans (9 trumpers)
19 Democrats
Committee on Oversight:
25 Republicans (11 trumpers)
20 Democrats
This makes 20 trumpers out of the total 88 members on these Committees.
Now ask yourself this. What laws have they passed? What has been Bragg's responses to Jordan? If you have a moment from needlessly worrying watch some tube moments of Raskin, Bush, Porter, AOC, Garcia, Goldman, Connolly, Moskowitz etc. successfully rebutting, humiliating and holding to task the unprepared, fact free, circus work of the Republican members. The Democratic members of the Committee and the Democratic witnesses came prepared, aggressive and credible.

The grieving and complaining is all justified. There are terrible people attempting terrible things. But that news is stealing the oxygen from the discussion. It is way over amplified.
Thank you for the reminders! We have a very fine President who is on the right page on most issues who leads us with intelligence and dignity. Bragg, Willis and Smith are doing their jobs.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't demand justice or fight to elect the correct people. But the sky is not falling today. And I am going to have a wonderful Sunday.

Grand job bringing us back to reality and out of the weeds of panic and pessimism, Barbara. Thank you. You laid it out beautifully. Your post succinctly demonstrated that at the federal level, we are actually in a pretty good position right now. And a lot of people are getting involved in various ways in local/state politics- and that will make us stronger for 2024 at all levels. I am feeling hopeful.
Let's hold each other up with fact based information, tools to combat the dystopian main stream media and trolls who show up in comments preaching "America is doomed" messages. We can prevail in 2024 if we keep our heads. Good people are working in Government and good citizens are working as well.
