The next time we hear “we can do this the easy way or the hard way” it should be about physically removing Trump from the Oval Office.

Yes, Mike, yes !!! 1000% !!!

This is an ANTIFA statement, beware...you are a bad boy Bill!

Lady Emsworth's avatar

I think that, in response to the R/W "I am Charlie Kirk" bages, we should all get badges saying "I Am Antifa!" - because, godammit, we ARE!

Daniel Kunsman's avatar

Just a paper clip. Movement started by E. Jean Carroll. A plain clip, large, worn where it can be seen. Then, when you see another one, a simple wink and a nod to confirm solidarity.

Eileen Lucas's avatar

For anyone else who hadn't heard about the "paper clip movement," see Joyce White Vance's post https://joycevance.substack.com/p/paper-clip-protest

Nancy Lent Lanoue's avatar

I wonder how many variations of the paper clip we’ll see. Could be fun!

Richard Sutherland's avatar

We are now wearing paper clips on our shirt lapels. Some of the ladies I know are wearing colored paper clips to match their outfits. Why didn't I think of that? I think that it has to do with the difference between the XX and the XY chromosomes.

Right, because if you’re not antifa, you’re profa!!

Great idea! I just bought a First Amendment t-shirt but might have to get an Antifa one, too!

ALERT ALERT ALERT

The 'RICK SENDER' post following is the first of +/- THIRTY EIGHT (I may have missed one or two) he's posted today as of 8:50 AM EST.

Miselle's avatar

I have blocked him, as have many others here. Let him be Grandpa Simpson yelling at the sky.

Probably a year ago, I repeatedly contacted Substack to ban him. That does absolutely NOTHING. Asking people to NOT ENGAGE WITH HIM doesn't work either.

As I like to compare it, he's similar to the old heavy breathers on landline phones. I believe he gets some sort of sexual cheap thrill out of getting responses, EVEN NEGATIVE ONES.

PLEASE JUST BLOCK HIM, PEOPLE!

For those who'll argue about free speech, let me say I've read these comments for many years. There have been respectful disagreements and debates (and a few nasty ones) but none have been downright TROLLING. There is no place for that on this forum.

Click on his NAME (not the three dots to the right) to go to where to block him

PLEASE JUST BLOCK HIM, PEOPLE!!

Elizabeth Wallace's avatar

BLOCK HIM!!! I blocked Rick sender a long time ago❤️

Bryan Sean McKown's avatar

Thank you for that detail Hendrik Gideon's. Do you have any facts related to any Troll's relationship with 3rd party Platform(s)?

Donald Twaddle's avatar

Looks like he is desperate for attention. Doesn't Behavior Modification tell us that, if we want to change a behavior by ignoring it, the first thing to happen will be an increased in that behavior?

EUWDTB's avatar

No, to distract us from the fact that the GOP has become neofascist and is installing fascism.

Apparently, it worked.

Yodagirl's avatar

And from the masterminds from Heritage in the West Wing advising him.

Rick Sender's avatar

Wait a minute is that like an insurrection. Sounds awful like an insurrection they want to have you arrested? Well, maybe it’s not really an insurrection maybe it’s just a protest because you can’t stand Trump. That’s the problem right now you should get behind your country and your president. Country is sailing and flying right now. America hasn’t had it this good since Clinton

Christopher Colles's avatar

Hey Rick Sender, you've made a terrible mistake. Everybody knows you are merely a toxic bot.

I suggest retirement or ice cream.

Steve Abbott's avatar

PLEASE stop replying to RS. The only effect it has is to blow up this forum, making the comments of others difficult to find. Many simply stop reading when this happens, and go on to other things.

Richard Sutherland's avatar

If, in fact, Rick Sender actually believes what he posts it proves that G.W. Bush was right at least once in his life when at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on 3-31-2001 he said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on."

Rick Sender's avatar

Well ..the media sure fooled a lot of you here about BIDEN;S failing mental capacity….and the media is paying the price now as are you. One of the reasons trump won was because of the deceptive media narrative. Which many here STILL swallow like the holy grail

Rick Sender's avatar

FALSE. AND YOU KNOW IT. I only want to present news you don’t get or read. Heather doesn’t always cover the news of the day. She;s more concerned with yesterday’s news and the news that creates a negative narrative against trump OR anyone from his administration.

Has she said anything positive about this?

K82Bullet points of Trump’s wins .. this is the assertion as I read articles from various publications.

1. Closed the border in only 75 days when AOC and Mayorkas and Harris (aka the border czar) said that the NOY ONLY THAT THE BORDER WAS SECURE, but only way to do it was legislation/aka mass amnesty) which, of course would take years. It didn’t fall the public when 10 to 15,000 illegals cross the border every day while the people in the administration continue to tell the story of the border being secure

And as well, the Democrats attempted to allow these folks to vote. Attempted in many local precincts, including 800,000 people/non-citizens in New York City given permission to vote and only ceased by the highest court in the state of New York.

2. Removing/deporting/arresting over 1,000,000 illegals that were brought in by Biden and the Democrats in order to get them to be able to vote. ( and there is proof of that)

3. The precision, annti- Iran nuclear strike. TACO pseudonym up in smoke. Using tension on the entire world, fearful of a nuclear Iran. While it’s proxies now remain quiet, on the Global stage

4. Three Trump assisted peace/cease fire deals. Iran/ Israel, Pakistan/ India. Somalia/ethiopia

5. The NATO increase in defense deal, including purchasing unique weaponry from the US to dissuade Russian aggression , well the leaders of NATO looked up to Trump and even called him, Daddy and thanked him for having pushed them to increase their funding to protect them against Russia, while the left and Legacy media called it bullying .

6. Despite economic specialists, liberal congress leadership, legacy media, boasting impending economic doom, rampant inflation (currently lowest in four years), global tariff and trade war nightmares, stock market crash, unemployment spikes, all unrealized thus far, and all wrong so far and now admitting they were wrong so far.

7. Doge.finding much fraud, waste, and abuse… further details in bullet point coming later. But all leading to the $9 billion recission bill.

8. THE OBBB… finding one of the only ways to assist the middle and lower income folks by eliminating tax on tips tax on Social Security and tax on overtime..for the time being… while increasing our defense budget, perhaps acquiring our own golden dome like Israel’s iron dome against foreign aggression… creating the permanent tense cuts of the first Trump administration, and including a large tax for the middle and working class. A $12.5 billion bill for modernization of our air traffic control system.

Many incentives for small business

9. The $9 billion rescission bill eliminating the federal government from funding, left-wing networks, and eliminating other sources of waste, fraud and abuse. 4 men pleading guilty to $500 million fraud at USA ID and another find is $2.7 billion fraud against Medicare. That would’ve grown to almost 14,000,000,000, had it not been detected

10. Job growth, exceeding expectation and estimates.

11. Eliminating the Department of education and sending education back to the states.

12. Referring Rowe v Wade back to the states where the voters have a voice not just nine Supreme Court justices.

13. Hey Siri of favorable Supreme Court rulings, stopping local justices rampant attempts to stop legislation …as an example from nationwide injunctions. Deportation rulings, deportation rulings, defund USAID, and the Dept of Education, and a few more of a personal nature

14. Stock market Ascension. Despite persistent assertions by the left and other economic pundits, the NASDAQ hit an all-time high. While the S&P also hit an all-time high and had the longest upward trajectory in the last 20 years. Well, the Dow is also threatening to beat its all-time high, which was in December 2024 after Trump’s election.

15. A major unexpected occurrence in June having to do with the deficit for the first time in 20 years for the month there was a budget surplus of $27 billion. Personally, I don’t imagine that will continue despite the tremendous amount of tariff income.

16. Somewhere between 10 and $13 trillion of additional investment in the USA by foreign entities as well as American companies, expanding their businesses here in America versus outsourcing them to other countries such as Mexico and China., including some of America’s and foreign most successful companies.

17. Gas prices continue to fall, even despite the attack on Iran, which by most assertions would’ve increased the price of gas, however the opposite has happened including the lowest gas prices in five years on Memorial Day as an example

Egg prices down 66% while the left was screaming about egg prices in January when Trump took office… average prices of eggs highest in March at $6.22 while the lowest average is $2.52 in June

18. Removing men participating in women’s sports, therefore leveling the playing field for women.

19. Reaching their military recruitment goals, five months early versus the short fall of 40 to 50,000 recruits during the previous administration.

20. Putting out the fire of antisemitism, especially at elitist universities, while promising severe consequences of antisemitic policies by eliminating federal support.

Well, those are the top 20 on the billboard charts. I welcome all the forthcoming love.

Democrats the DNC itself sent out a graph showing how high prices are under Trump but mistakenly included the results since 2019 and all of a sudden it showed how Biden’s administration prices shot higher and higher and higher year by year and because they didn’t realize what they done they took it down later when they realized they had made a mistake

Here’s two links ones from Fox, which you can refuse if you like, but the others from YouTube

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) drew widespread mockery Thursday over a since-deleted social media post that showed how the cost of groceries skyrocketed under former President Joe Biden.

Well like most people Chris we all make mistakes

but not here… because all I’m doing here is providing awareness

Have a friend of mine we grew up with and he went left and I went right he lives in Boston. He’s an attorney and I spoke with him the other day.

Boston is just infested with bubble think as you know. And the day after the shooting we were talking, and I mentioned Charlie Kirk, and he had never ever heard of Pearly Kirk, where he lives in Boston. And he had never seen the video or heard about the attack on the woman in the train in Charlotte North Carolina. That’s exactly what I see. Here you people are actually clueless because no one is telling you the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Russell John Netto's avatar

I've never heard of Pearly Kirk. Please enlighten me.

I’ve already been retired for 12 years. I’m only responding to you guys. I’m never a first strike. character. All the hate coming from here it’s really sad. Here’s what I posted last night, but since I didn’t think I sent it to you, I will share it with you out of the kindness of my heart. Which, by the way, I have lol O lol

I’ll find it in another thread and generously send it to you

Russell John Netto's avatar

Could you find it in the kindness of your heart to go and read a serious newspaper for a change instead of coming here and whinging all the time?

Richard Sutherland's avatar

Rick, we feel that you have “drunk the KoolAid.” There is little critical thinking regarding some of the issues on your part. You aren’t alone. While many of us know that all life on earth (insects, plants, animals) share the same DNA because we are all descended from LUCA, billions of humans still believe in the existence of heaven, hell, a soul, an afterlife and more, though there is zero proof for the proposition. We frequently believe what we want to believe. Critical thinking takes a drubbing.

Rick Sender's avatar

Btw nothing like an empty meaningless post when there are ZERO FACTS…zero what did you call it…critical thinking?

Idea for you richard when you post have a point, it makes it more interesting for the reader. What EXACTLY is your argument/complaint. Not meandering generalities. This country is winning every day. Get out there ..

Rick Sender's avatar

Please give back all your investment gains since October. . Unless you are a trump supporter

Rick Sender's avatar

Well, well well to all the ignorant, hating T…D….S. CONSUMED …”VERMIN’ here Who blamed Donald Trump for firing Jimmy Kimmel… for getting rid of him …and telling ABC to get rid of him, which they did, because he said so….. you are so sickkkkkkk…. I guess today, Donald Trump is the most forgiving ,sensitive, kind-hearted man on the planet. Because today, Donald Trump called ABC and gave ABC permission to put Kimmel back on the air. And if you don’t see the sickening hypocrisy of every one of you, it’s beyond shameful… and as I believe that everybody gets what they deserve, I wouldn’t wanna be in your shoes hating with that fervor…so, IF YOU WERE ONE OF THEM…. if any tragedy happens to you “ naturally”.. due to your hate …welcome it ..greet it with a smile because it’s something that you deserve… for anyone that has that much hate and contempt in their heart. To me, you’re not even of the human race

Oh, and by the way, apparently 100 million people watched the Charlie Kirk memorial yesterday. Those are not my words. Check it out yourself.

Russell John Netto's avatar

So much for not being a 'first strike character'!

Donald Trump. by the way, said he hated his opponents and did not wish them well. Does that sound to you like a "forgiving, sensitive, kind-hearted man"? You're a fool Rick and there's no fool like an old fool.

Bonnie Devine's avatar

Sounds like the same type of math Trump used to count all the people at his inauguration. I know I & countless other folks wouldn’t watch it.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

I assume that Trump will be removed from the Oval Office after he is defeated in the 2028 election. Or after he tries to postpone the 2028 election. Because there WILL BE an emergency, don't ya know?

Rick Sender's avatar

Actually, Kathleen, he’s smarter than that. I’m not sure if he’ll go through with it but here’s the plan and you’re gonna love it. If the Country’s doing well.. somewhere maybe late in his third year, or maybe in the beginning of his fourth he’s going to resign the office and pass the torch without the need for a boat to none other than JD Vance. And Advanced is doing a good job or has done a good job. Guess what’s gonna happen?

Happy now. ? And stop the nonsense. OK please makes you sound ridiculous and it’s bad enough you’re on the wrong side of right and wrong.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Trump resigns the presidency? Doesn't sound like the guy we've come to know so well.

Rick Sender's avatar

He would do it for America, because the result could be another eight years in the White House for Republican. And if this country is running then anyway like it’s running now that’s likely to happen. Hypocrites here don’t even give Trump any credit for closing the border which they really wanted and they certainly aren’t talking about how much money they made in the 401(k) in the retirement fund since Trump taking office.

Hypocrites extraordinaire

Rick Sender's avatar

And then next time you presume to question the sources of a Recognized Authority In The Field - as you did me over the failed use of the A-bombs - by being stupid enough to quote Wikipedia as your source, just go fuck off and stop bothering your betters, you lumpenproletariat lifetime loser dumbfuck. I know it makes you feel better, but please think...."opera" "pig" and "wasting your time" are the key words here -- as well as mucking up the place for everybody else. It's most distasteful to see this stuff diverting real conversation. It never changes. NEVER.

Oh, and here you up above I guess you like the video and pictures of Trump and Elon making amends huh? Shaking hands, and smiling at one another, putting each other on the back once again Gonna be buddy buddy again you guys better get out there and start Lighting Tesla’s on fire. Lololol.

By the way, did I tell you I lived in Calabasas California for 10 years or more. less than in a mile from the Kardashians around the corner from Dr. Dre 2 miles from roy Disney. We used to see Bruce Jenner, bring all the girls to the movies every Friday. They were beautiful back then and look how they grew up not only beautiful, but smart and productive.

Three blocks from Marsha Clark The prosecuting attorney in the O.J. Simpson trial…. Don’t know how old you are, but wink Martindale, who is on TV for many many years. One of my restaurants used to service a very upscale private school right there called Viewpoint where Wayne Gretzky‘s children actually went to school back then.

But I do have pity for you and hopefully you will recover from your heat. Don’t wait too long it’ll eat away at you.

Coming from you I take that as a compliment. Thank you very much Maybe I should spell it complement so you could criticize my spelling which would hurt my wittle hawt. lol

TC tell you what this is about the fifth crystal ball you’ve owned and they’re all wrong. I’ve actually posted on here what I did for a living, how I came from a furnished apartment, the first 28 years of my life into owning a chain of businesses, and being the chairman of the board of one of the biggest companies in the world.

I even posted pictures of my house on here it was on the front page of the citywide paper in the city of 3 million people. Just mentioning it because coming from nothing I was able to build design and buy this home and live in it for nine years and you couldn’t even imagine it.

So Rick, are you employed by Turning Point USA, as a part time consultant/retiree?

And no, albeit we’re retired & doing ok, the country is NOT “ sailing & flying high.” I know numerous middle income folks & they’ve all noted the higher prices. Additionally, I manage our budget & we’re paying significantly more for many items, in particular food.

But perhaps you’re simply fixated on reading Trump’s & his administration’s drivel & economic double speak currently. Hope you bought big time into bit coin & perhaps Trump’s recent financial offerings. However, unless you bought into his “family & friends” plan, you’ll likely lose “ bigly.”

Rick Sender's avatar

Biden’s economy facts. Inflation as high as nine percent but hovered around 7%. Gas prices doubled …food prices up 20%. Mtg rates tripled? Read trumps numbers below in the chart THE DNC PROVIDED.

and that;s why the took it down MINUTES AFTER IT WAS POSTED. .

I don’t believe in bit coin. Oooops.

And by the way, many people here, like you seem to be willfully ignorant not only do you not want to hear the news, but you refuse to hear the news that you don’t want to hear. More people showed up for the memorial in person… then show up for the Super Bowl

Carr is trying to cover his tracks.

Skye Perryman & the able Democracy Forward litigation crew seek evidence of ALL the information detailing the conduct of ALL the actors including "outside non-governmental agencies" that directed or influenced the attack Jimmy Kimmel & other voices.

That includes bu,t is not limited to the following:

I'm a day late, trying to find time to interpret some history I was led to by Mickie (Newbill) Edwardson. Her research and stories mainly about James L. Fly, as FCC Commissioner from 1939 to 1944. He had previously been General Counsel to the TVA, and later Director of the ACLU.

My WWII USCG/SPAR Veteran mother-in-law was Mickie's neighbor in Gainesville, FL so my other in-laws that lived nearby met Mickie a lot more than the few times we did, but I learned enough to appreciate her attention to Fly's history, given my appreciation of so many I met that had worked in the TVA and later ACLU, organizations that have long been favorites of mine. She inspired me by her history of United States Information Service work in 1962 (during the Cuban Missile Crisis), and especially in Fry's history, originally totally against wire taps, but eventual recognition and support of it only through legitimate warrants.

\another made up word. It’s only fascism when you don’t control the narrative.

Richard Sutherland's avatar

A foundational right that fascists target when seizing power is freedom of the press and expression. By controlling information and suppressing dissent, fascist regimes can dismantle democratic institutions and cement their authority. Silencing Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel while extorting broadcast companies with threats are all an example of a fascist agenda at work. That you support Trump's activities makes you, Rick, by definition, a Fascist, just as those who are followers of Christ are Christians.

Hey blind man. Is Charlie Kirk’s death what you consider freedom of speech and the press?

Well sorry to disappoint you but it’s worse than you think. I’m Jewish.

Who silenced those guys? Trump? Lmfao. I have got more news for you…..omg. You poor soul. Here uya go

To me, you’re not even of the human race…

Oh, and by the way, apparently 100 million people watched the Charlie Kirk memorial yesterday. Those are not my words. Check it out yourself.

Even You tube is wising up. Google vowed on Tuesday to offer YouTube accounts that were permanently banned for political speech the ability to be reinstated, and the big tech giant admitted that it once faced pressure from the Biden administration to remove content about COVID-19.

Well, first of all, GARY thank you very much for your service. I served as well. but you seem like most people here, living on the same corner as everybody else here pretty much the corner of double standard and hypocrisy. Do you remember a guy name Bill Clinton? Who lied under oath as President of the United States and stayed in office? The one who had sex with his employee inside the White House, while married, and President of the United States.

By the way, 77 million people voted for someone who you think was a convicted felon, but anyone in the real world knows the entire scenario was simply a Cham Cham judge Cham jury in a sham quart room in New York City. And he’s doing a great job and I don’t know what you have against him because he’s doing a great job in every area, especially in protecting the Armed Forces.

How can someone STILL believe, this late in the process of installing fascism in the US, that it's all about Trump?

Tech billionaires have become neofascist years ago already.

The Heritage Foundation, the official GOP think tank, has become neofascist years ago already.

And then there is the neofascist Steve Bannon MAGA 1.0 wing, whose populism is entirely based on ending democracy and replacing it with fascism all over the world.

Things are SO much worse than you seem to imagine.

Trump is merely their clown in chief, forced to sign ANY executive order they write because if not, they'll send him directly to jail.

During the presidential debate, Kamala Harris showed how easy it is to manipulate Trump. So with Trump in the WH, the question is always: WHO is pulling the strings behind the scenes?

In this case, it's perfectly clear: the three neofascist groups that make up today's GOP.

The GOP is the problem. Not Trump.

A huge THANK YOU and WELL F—-KING DONE to everyone who acted immediately to cancel subscriptions, divest and boycott, write to Iger, the FCC, Nexstar, Sinclair, ABC, etc. to protest that egregious and unconstitutional silencing of free speech. This is what democracy looks like.

Let's keep the pressure on Sinclair, for the reasons Heather discusses above.

COMPLAIN TO & BOYCOTT SINCLAIR BROADCASTING -

The Sinclairs have been buying up networks/stations across the country to promote their right-wing ideology. Tell them you are boycotting and urging your friends and social networks to boycott ALL Sinclair stations and their advertisers:

Here's a simple place to start: email Sinclair directly at mediainquiries@sbgtv.com

That seems to be the contact email for ALL Sinclair stations, so no need to look up your local one.

An email like this will get the job done - feel free to use or adjust!

——I am writing to inform you that my family and I are joining the nationwide boycott of Sinclair stations and all advertisers on those stations, and urging all our friends and social media contacts to do the same. We do not and will not support Sinclair’s egregious and authoritarian censorship of free speech.——

Also you can contact Sinclair with the same message on this form:

https://sbgi.net/contact-us/

To write a more targeted email:

Look for your local station on this list: https://sbgi.net/tv-stations/ and include the call letters in your email like this:

Subject line: “Your violation of First Amendment rights”

———I am writing to inform you that my friends and I are joining the nationwide boycott of Sinclair stations, including KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock, AR, and all advertisers on those stations. We are urging all our friends and social media contacts to do the same. We do not and will not support Sinclair’s egregious and authoritarian censorship of free speech.——

You may not live anywhere near a Sinclair station. You can still send an email to Sinclair corporate as outlined above.

----------

Go further! This Reddit thread is compiling a very comprehensive list of Sinclair and Nexstar local stations and advertisers to contact, with direct links to contact forms:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1nlnd21/how_to_contact_companies_that_run_ads_on_local/

And look, we don't have to be LOCAL to send an email to inform advertisers that we will be boycotting ALL Sinclair advertisers!

But here's a sample message to tailor to specific advertisers:

————I've been going to (business name or store) off and on for years. I recently learned that __ is running ads on (——) news, a station owned by Sinclair and actively fighting to end the first amendment.

I cannot give my money to any organization that supports fascism. Please notify me if you cease running ads on (____ news) so I know I can return to (business name or store) .

Other threads with various people making these Boycott lists are here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1nlqwy5/comment/nf7fnmz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/1nksuur/local_sinclair_advertisers_if_you_fancy_a_boycott/

---------------------------------------

Good news is that FCC chairman/Trump acolyte Brendan “Goodfellas” Carr is backpedalling so fast that someone must have had a word with him. (Bravo to Rep. Eric Swalwell who said it publicly: “And to the FCC chairperson and anyone involved in these dirty deals, get a lawyer and save your records because you’re going to be in this room and you’re going to be answering questions about the deals that you struck and who benefited and what the cost was to the American people because that happened.”

Thanks again to everyone who amplified Carr’s threat around the Internet:

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action ... on Kimmel or, you know, there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.

Disney says Kimmel's show will return on Tuesday

Michele2's avatar

Thank you Alexandra for collating all that info and getting the ball rolling - downhill for a change!

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

I'm afraid Sinclair isn't quite a downhill battle. They know most consumers don't have enough information about their part in this censorship to target them. But we can change that!

Mar O’Malley's avatar

I have been concerned about the Sinclair for years. Glad more people see what corporate greed and straight jacket belief can do in a really negative way. Many vast deserts of information like food deserts. It is a multilayered problem. There have been cross currents and crosswires since I became an adult that have always really scared me. So at least I know my fear was reality based and the general public are seeing into this shadow that has grown over time. I think of L’Engje’s Wrinkle in Time and her use of a shadow . And yes I did what I could as I always do.

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

Mar - L'Engle's shadow of IT is a great metaphor, isn't it?

Michele's avatar

Mar, so have we and we do not watch any news or programs on ABC which is channel 2 in Portland, OR. Now because of the regime and death star, we only watch the local news on NBC, channel 8.

Meg Metcalf's avatar

I alternate between NBC on channel 8 & CBS on 6. The only thing I watch on KATU is Jeopardy (while muting all commercials). All other news from PBS. I also read The Guardian. Global news offers an interesting counterpoint to our straitjacketed media.

Michele's avatar

Meg, we usually watch 8 and in a pinch, 6. We do like the Guardian. And we do subscribe O live.

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

I've updated my post above - see the links to contact lists with direct links to inform local advertisers that you will be boycotting all Sinclair stations. And look, we don't have to be LOCAL to send an email to inform advertisers that we will be boycotting ALL Sinclair advertisers! Just use one of the sample scripts as your template and change a few words to make it fit the advertiser. I keep adding to the link list and sample scripts on this post here: https://alexandrasokoloff.substack.com/p/freedom-of-speech-under-direct-attack

Michele2's avatar

Thank you - your link looks incredibly clear... You make it look easy... I will attempt it tomorrow... I was going to ask a very stupid question, but I think I'll pass and go to bed and try not to dream of tsunamis or "theme park" concentration camps... G'night...

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

Marie, that is their poison in a nutshell.

Craig Gjerde's avatar

Sinclair requires their local channels to air selected “news stories.”

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

They're insidious. But they're also running scared from the boycott.

———Sinclair's ABC stations back out of airing Charlie Kirk tribute in Jimmy Kimmel's time slot at the last minute————

When Sinclair pulled Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week they made an additional announcement that their ABC stations would air a Charlie Kirk tribute at 11:35pm ET Friday night (Jimmy Kimmel's normal time slot).

Instead at 11:24pm ET (11 minutes before airtime) Sinclair put out a tweet saying they would air normal ABC programming (Celebrity Family Feud reruns) and the tribute would be on their youtube channel instead.

Interesting that the original announcement was made via official press release on their corporate website, yet the update was only made available via a tweet.

Analyst consensus ratings on Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI) vary, but most recent analyses indicate a consensus rating of "Hold". This suggests that investors should generally maintain their existing positions in the stock rather than buying more or selling off their shares. Google.

According to AI : As of the last reported data for late August/early September 2025, there were approximately 3.18 million shares of Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI) shorted, representing about 8.16% of the company's public float, with a "days to cover" ratio of 6. This signifies a recent increase in short interest, which suggests a negative sentiment from investors regarding SBGI's future performance.

Thank you, Alexandra, for providing this easy-to-follow template and helpful links.

The only suggestion I might offer is that we include the channel number and call letters of our local Sinclair stations to give your excellent template credibility, and to avoid the appearance of an "astroturf" action.

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

Dale, absolutely - if you see your local station on this list https://sbgi.net/tv-stations/ - include it! I wanted to make it as simple as possible for people who seem overwhelmed by the instructions to follow links. I get it - we're all worn out.

Also, there are huge numbers of people who are not going to be anywhere near a Sinclair station, but they can still take action with a direct email to corporate.

Dale Rowett AR OK VA PA NY's avatar

Alexandra, I know you didn't take my suggestion as criticism. I agree that people who aren't near a Sinclair station should still participate.

When Sinclair launched their fascist campaign years ago, I learned that they own one of my local affiliates, which has been on my sh*tlist ever since.

Since I am a household of one with a canine roommate, I sent my email with the subject line: "Your violation of First Amendment rights"

I am writing to inform you that my friends and I are joining the nationwide boycott of Sinclair stations, including KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock, AR, and all advertisers on those stations. We are urging all our friends and social media contacts to do the same. We do not and will not support Sinclair’s egregious and authoritarian censorship of free speech.

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

Excellent template for a targeted email!

Dale Rowett AR OK VA PA NY's avatar

KATV in Little Rock's website lists an email address for their local news desk, so I sent the following email with the subject line: "Kimmel-related boycott against Sinclair stations"

The nationwide boycott of Disney Corporation, including the ABC network, is extending to TV stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which has announced its continuing refusal to broadcast the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live on its stations, including KATV Channel 7, after Disney/ABC caved under intense public pressure following its violation of Kimmel’s First Amendment rights and capitulation to FCC chair Brendan Carr’s threats. I will be among those boycotting your station and its advertisers.

Ally House (Oregon)'s avatar

This is a summary of what I have seen from my law enforcement background from the late 90's until 2013 or so.

There is an Antifa backstory, at least here in the PNW. Beginning with the WTO conference in Seattle in 1999, people, loosely defining themselves as "Antifa" (short for antifascist) showed up to protest. Given that it is the PNW, there were a lot of protests that branched from that to include corporations (two that were targeted in Eugene were Starbucks and Joe Romania Chevrolet) and from those protests an anarchist "movement" was born. The mission of these "anarchists" was to destroy everything corporate with as much violence and damage as they could. EarthFirst! was protesting logging of old growth land in Oregon at that time, and employed many of the same tactics as the anarchists, but rather than a "destroy it all" motivation (which is what the anarchists want) it was very specifically against logging old growth, which branched into a more "anti-corporation" movement.

The "Other 98%" movement came from that basis, and Occupy Wallstreet in the 2008-2009 time frame were tied with Antifa, at least here in Oregon.

Anarchists often dovetail with these other forms of demonstrations, and really showed this during the BLM protests in more recent times. Generally what happens is that there is legitimate protest that the anarchists (sometimes calling themselves "antifa") will join with their "tear it all down" methodology rather than a "fix the problem" of fascism.

Thomas Epley's avatar

That’s the frightening aspect of their ridiculous declaration

Robot Bender's avatar

Given that ICE has already been detaining US citizens, that ship may have sailed.

Michele's avatar

Ally, thank you for this detailed info about protest in the PNW. My own view is that there are a small group of people in Portland particularly who are actually apolitical, but use every protest to do as much damage as they can because breaking windows, etc. is fun. One 14 year old did several thousand dollars worth of damage. We even had mention of one individual who came from somewhere else equipped with his hammer. When people plan protests they emphasize not doing this type of behavior and warn about individuals that do. Then there are the Antifa symbols that show up amongst the graffiti. Things really went downhill in Portland when the Feds decided to come in during the George Floyd protests. Some lawsuits are still being settled. There is a problem with protests around the ICE building in Portland. The mayor has voiced his dismay with the behavior of ICE agents. The people living nearby are tired of the noise and problem, but so far everything they have tried has been to no avail.

Sharon's avatar

Isn’t it interesting how reading the word anarchist is like reading the word antichrist. So similar in meaning to me.

Nancy K's avatar

Thanks Ally. I am still feeling conflicted in my understanding of antifa.

Christy's avatar

It depends if you’re the felon in the Oval Office or someone that doesn’t want to live under a fascist government. Anti-fa is simply a description of a political ideology meaning against fascism. If we are to label a political ideology a terrorist organization based on a few folks who subscribe to that ideology being violent than the entire cult of Trump must also be a domestic terrorist organization. Where most of our antifa are gathered is in Arlington. I sure hope NO one would call them bad!!!!

Miselle's avatar

Thank you for that statement. It's one I have made many times, and if you deliver it in person, the wide-eyed confused reaction is quite entertaining.

Yehawes (VA)'s avatar

I will, and thank you for making further protest easier. This is not the time to drop the ball - rather, it's time to use the momentum.

I have seen multiple articles on how this protest has been even more organic than many previous ones, organized by groups that are now so under attack their resources have been badly diminished.

Organisms share certain common characteristics and growth and nodal points to pass information and direction are among them. Thank you for taking it upon yourself to serve as one of those nodal points. This growth of organic protest and feedback is one of the hopeful signs that social media can serve as a distributed, less easily attacked, bulwark against authoritarianism.

Alexandra Sokoloff's avatar

I agree, Yehawes, that's absolutely how it felt and hopefully still is. This isn't about Jimmy Kimmel, it's about right wing fanatic corporations colluding with the predator's FCC propaganda boy and attempting an authoritarian takeover of the airwaves. Most people won't get on board to protest that - but they GET Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert being silenced is bad and they felt something deeper there, too.

But even with all the outrage there were so very few places that listed direct, step by step action to DO something. I knew the good people here and in other places I'm posting would get on it if they knew WHAT to do about it.

Sinclair and Nexstar operate in the shadows because no one knows what they're doing, and they deliberately make it hard for people to find out.

The antifa order is an excuse to go after anyone who opposes the administration. It is a declaration that state power will be used to crush dissent.

Dutch Mike's avatar

I was thinking the same thing… As Antifa isn’t really an organization, so it’s quite easy to fake evidence that you belong to it and find the ICE/SS officers at your doorstep.

“We done hearin’ you belong to Antifa, so we’re gonna arrest you.”

“I don’t belong to any organization with that name.”

“Our president says you do. We hear any more denial comin’ from you we’re gonna f**k you up.”

EcstaticRationalist's avatar

More like: any organization or individual that opposes the Trump dictatorship, through actions, funding or public statements, is antifa and subject to arrest, having assets seized, etc. They could literally scrape Act Blue records and go after anyone who donated to any Democratic candidate or progressive cause. They could scrape social media and substack postings and comments. I have no doubt they intend to do all this. The question is whether the people of the United States have the will, courage and comprehension to recognize what is happening and stop it.

Dutch Mike's avatar

I'm thinking the exact same thing. It's just a question of time when this Substack, among others, will be marked "antifa" and thus forbidden.

I'm also very curious if Americans are willing to stop this. 1/3 voted for this shit, and another 1/3 of the people didn't care and decided to stay home...

It uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals.”

I told him, it is a great city with wonderful parks, museums and restaurants.

He then asked, "Aren't you afraid to go there with all of the gangs and murders."

I explained that I have been to many parts of Chicago that are not very wealthy and I have never felt unsafe. And sure there are gangs there just like every city in the US. But the gangs go after each others members mot people like you and me.

Heather does an amazing job listing the main corruption by Donald's cronies in high places.

And yet, at the memorial service for her late husband, Erika Kirk didn’t call for vengeance on her husband’s assassin. She didn’t call for blind hatred of all those not with her and her late husband’s – and MAGA’s – political views.

She spoke forgiveness even for her late husband’s murderer – because, she said, her Charlie would have wanted that.

What a counter she provided to the many, many Donald associates who only follow his lead in corruption, cover-up, and calls for hatred and violence. But even around Erika's eminent decency at her late husband's memorial service, there came a more predictable shit show from Donald and all his White House goons. And the crowd lapped up the vulgarity: tittering, guffawing, yahooing the calls for violence and more hatred from the criminal in the White House and his allied thugs.

Who knows where this MAGA world is now?

Heather concludes with her note of Disney backing down from its censure of Jimmy Kimmel. Can corporate leaders -- our commercial classes -- lean towards decency, towards respect for freedom of expression, and other traditions in our democracy? Or will more follow elite law, the universities, too much of legacy media, and too many of our social media billionaires in scurrying to favor the criminal in the White House?

Kirk was a sexist white nationalist punk who got rich by spewing hatred and misinformation that likely killed people. He would *love* all the attention he is getting now and how it is further dividing the country. He would also love that the Republicans are using it to further violence against Trump's opponents. His wife might have made nice at his furneral but she is just as bad as he was and previously said she was "at war" with the left despite the fact that his killer was a cis white man raised by Trumpers who were obsessed with guns (as evidenced by the truly obscene pics of them all basically fondling all manner of guns). Perhaps if he was truly raised in a "leftist" family, he would not have chosen murder as a way to make a name for himself or whatever twisted motive he had.

Phil Balla's avatar

We know, Dana.

We know what he said, what she has also said. We know the pictures you describe.

But at the memorial service she stood apart from all the goons, thugs, fondlers of assault weaponry, coverers-up of underage girl rape, and allies to the world's worst dictators.

I'm giving you a "like," still, for the sweet justice of your last five words.

Dana's avatar

I wouldn't know, Phil, because I would no sooner listen to Kirk's widow at his "memorial service" than I would watch any other propaganda program put out by those who are attempting to destroy my country. I will also not watch any "memorial service" for any other lying white nationalist punk who spews lies and kills people through mis-information and hatred. I am absolutely horrified that EVERY main stream media station covered this piece of state-sponsored propaganda. 1930s Germany all over again!

Phil Balla's avatar

I didn't watch any of it, either, Dana.

But I was impressed by how so many decent Dems and podcasts hosts of prominence did watch her performance, and saluted her.

The goal can be that all MAGA need not stay trapped in all that vengeance-only, hatred-only. A few can model other scenarios.

Kathy Hughes's avatar

I have better things to do than to watch Trump’s Charlie Kirk show.

Phil Balla's avatar

I won't watch anything with him in it, Kathy.

We all know he's a criminal, fraud, quantum liar, rapist, pals to the world's worst traffickers of underage girls, stochastic terrorist, friend to dictators, zero help to any democracies, murderer on the open seas, advocate of large-scale hatreds, funder of concentration camps and ICE goons, corrupter of the federal system of justice, wastrel in spending, advocate of gerrymandering, and racist.

How does a country so reduce its schools so tens of millions OK the above?

Dana's avatar

"But I was impressed by how so many decent Dems and podcasts hosts of prominence did watch her performance, and saluted her."

Can you list them so I know who they are as they are not worth my time, support or trust? Buying into their narrative and supporting their propaganda (often for clicks and views) is not going to save our country. Drinking the Kool-Aid is not going to help anyone.

Sharon's avatar

I think the point is, whether she meant it or not, she sent a message of kindness and unity instead of hate and retaliation. If even some of that base would take her message and turn away from the hate cult maybe it would start to make a difference. Repeatedly showing MAGA that they don’t have to be cruel jerks could be a good thing.

Anne B's avatar

Thank you, Phil, for pointing out the brave decency of Erika Kirk. The Bulwark had a special segment reacting to the service, and they played the forgiveness part of her talk. Then they (Sam Stein, Andrew Eggar) talked quite a bit, with sincerity, about how moving it was. And it was moving. It was real.

Then they went on to the MAGA stuff that the others gave, some of it quite unhinged. But I was impressed with Erika's forgiveness, impressed with the Bulwark starting their reaction with her and giving her part time and discussion, and I am impressed with your pointing out examples of decency.

Sharon's avatar

I’m hoping her message reaches their base and helps them change their hateful behavior.

Janet Myers's avatar

She was married to a racist, sexist white nationalist and she allowed her husband's death to be used as propaganda by a fascist trying to destroy our democracy. She played her part in the reality show put on by Trump and apparently, even people who should know better (if Goebbels puts on a show, everyone in it is complicit even if they are acting their assigned role and seem 'nice') fell for it. People, not just MAGA, are so easily manipulated, it's shocking sometimes. Never mind what people say, watch what they *do*! No wonder we are in the mess we are in.

Gail Adams VA/FL's avatar

Sinclair is about to find out that being an ABC station owner doesn't have the amount of control they think it does. Kim Masters (the go-to reporter here in Hollywood for the past 40 years) reports that right after Sinclair's owner made that statement about not broadcasting the Kimmel show that he got a phone call from Iger, telling him that for so long as he doesn't carry Kimmel, he won't receive any feed from ABC for any sports event. Given sports are 70-75% of local stations' revenue, there will soon be a change in policy announced. Reports here are that former CEO Michael Eisner's post on Thursday questioning Iger's judgement and announcing support for Kimmel really broke through with Iger - Eisner was the guy who gave him the Disney CEO jov 20 years ago and supported his return to CEO in 2023. The fact that over 100 star-level creatives with either run or star in Disney shows, are among those who publicly advocated the boycott and un-subscription (Disney appears to have taken a 5-7% hit in Disney+ subscribers over the weekend, which is h-u-g-e, and a similar hit to ESPN subscriptions - the carriage fees ESPN brings in from cable channels' sports packages is the largest single income source in the company).

We can take Mauschwitz (the Hollywood name for Disney - tell you anything about how much we like those people?) learning that having a spine helps the bottom line as proof of People Power. It was the viewers and the fans and the subscribers who hit them where it mattered: the bottom line. NBC certainly watched closely from the sidelines and Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers are a lot safer now than they were. And a lot of other companies have paid attention too. As the old saying from Vietnam went, "When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow."

----Hello, I just wanted to reach out to you, as I see that your company is currently holding ads on ABC7 in (Washington, DC). Many (DC) -based residents are initiating a boycott of ABC7 due to their parent company's decision to cancel Jimmy Kimmel's program. While it is a network's right to maintain their programming as they see fit, free speech is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy. Kimmel's sudden cancelation is a clear signal of ABC's capitulation to the will of a few instead of its guarantee to the rights of the many.

But forget all that...making citizens fear Tylenol is the next effort to take away attention from the Epstein files. After promoting fear of a hazard that does not exist, declare an organization that does not exist a terrorist threat.

As, I suspect, was the hoopla for Charlie Kirk. I was barely aware of the name before he was murdered. I feel as though they are using this family's tragedy for their own benefit. Vampires. Disgraceful.

Agreed. This vampires' live horror show made the scariest Stephen King flick look like The Little Mermaid. Their entire brains are purposed entirely to manipulating others and completely devoid of capacity for empathy.

This is the Party of NO. NO, Homan never accepted a bribe from anybody. NO, the CEO’s from JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, B of A, and Bank of NY Mellon, will not be subpoenaed. NO, the Venezuelan fishing boats evidence will not be revealed. NO, the entirety of the Epstein files will not be released.

Here’s our NO in response: Boycotts, peaceful demonstrations, hammering our congressional reps telling them to tweet out on X, Blue Sky, Threads, Facebook , etc., that Dems are in the minority and if our government fails to get funded, then it is all the fault of the Republicans. They could have negotiated with the Dems, but their golden pumpkin leader told them NO. Dems must say publicly “Hey, not our fault. We don’t have control if the government shuts down.” Put the dang onus on the Repubs!
