Spent over 40 years and have Plaques from CEOs of foundations and companies that I have contributed to over that time. I was instrumental in the development of an organization called operation gratitude, which started out in 2003 I believe or so, in supporting our troops overseas and in hospitals stateside. They had packing of gifts donated by many companies that soldiers needed based on where they were stationed like Iraq, Germany, etc.
And inside those each, and every package, there was a letter written by an elementary school student who is writing to operation gratitude to thank the troops for their service, and that was inserted in the box that was sent out to every troop that they could afford to do so during those days.
They had volunteers to help with packing all the goodies on a once a month basis, and had usually between three and 400 volunteers and I bought and supplied lunch for every single one of them for probably three years\…
Today that organization has sent out more than 3 million packages to troops when back then they were a little tiny organization sending out 500 packages at a time. That was one of my contributions back then. I also want two awards from the company I worked for for seven years by the name the dedicated all its voluntary efforts to one organization, muscular dystrophy, and the Jerry Lewis telethon. In 1984 I raised $30,000 on my own for that effort, and managed the store for the company at the 1984 Olympic Village
Where I got many athletes from all over the world to donate. To MDA.
Many athletes signed posters for me, and I held an auction at the sportsman‘s Lodge in the San Fernando Valley with RICK Monday a former dodger, who was very supportive of my efforts.
Myself and many of my co-owners every year went down to the main homeless shelter in Los Angeles and fed the homeless with food we paid for and we did the service ourselves for them. We did that for about 10 years and even after I left that company they’re still doing it.
Also, during that time, the March of Dimes is a very important issue on the horizon still and I was the fifth largest contributor in Los Angeles to the annual campaign. They had that year that didn’t come from my pocket that came from walking the streets, walking into businesses and asking them to donate to the March of Dimes. In fact, one year while living on Miami Beach, I walked from first Street to 95th St. the Americana, stopping at every hotel patio outside, asking for donations with my little canister and took a dime from the canister to pay for my bus back to the Jacquie Gleason, Theatre, and telephone where the money was given to the March of Dimes Association.
When I bought my first business, the company happen to get behind a story of a kidnapper who took a child by the name of Adam WALSH, whose father still appears on TV some 35 years later and we were supportive of the search for Adam and did many fundraisers on his behalf.
Almost forgot a couple more we raised money for earthquake relief after the 84 earthquake when we lived in Los Angeles and we raised money and fed the firemen that battled the fires that many times affected Los Angeles back in the late 80s and early 90s.

My personal story goes a lot deeper, where my mother had one miscarriage and one stillborn before I was born 14 years after they were married, and then my father died when I was six in a greyhound bus accident there’s a lot more personal stuff after that, but you asked about compassion

Just back from a 5 day mini vacation there. My wife's sister and our son were born there more than 50 years ago and were able to join us there with our son's family.

Parts of three of our family branches met in Hawaii the week before and last week, including two born there from two generations. Among the people we met were two from Munich Germany, where my sister was born, Veterans and family members of Hawaiian Veterans of mixed Okinawan pre-WWII Japanese and Chinese ancestry who either served in or knew people who served in the initial 100th Infantry Battalion (separate) that were mostly Nisei (1st gen American born to Japanese born Americans) as former members of the Hawaii Army National Guard. That unit trained at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin near where my father was later stationed at Volk Field.

House GOP leaders are staring down a politically fraught and legislatively jam-packed September as lawmakers return to Washington — all while their tiny majority is set to get even slimmer.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) must contend with a Sept. 30 government funding deadline amid disputes among Republicans on the structure and length of a stopgap and as Democrats have the power to force a shutdown.
Calls for more disclosures about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which thwarted leadership’s plans ahead of the August recess, are set to come back to the forefront. And GOP lawmakers are planning to press their leaders on hot-button issues like stock trading, while contending with demands from President Trump on crime and beyond.
Adding to the pressure are two special elections in September that almost certainly will add two Democrats to the chamber in seats open due to the deaths of Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) and Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.). Virginia’s special election is Sept. 9, and Arizona’s is Sept. 23.
That will give Republicans less breathing room on party-line votes, being able to afford just two GOP defections rather than three, assuming all members are present and voting.
In a majority that includes lawmakers who routinely oppose continuing resolutions (CRs) to extend government funding when there is no time left for the regular appropriations process — like Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) — having even one fewer vote could complicate the GOP strategy on a funding stopgap.
The last GOP-designed CR in March was sent to the Senate after every Democrat and Massie voted no, leaving Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to make the call on whether to force a government shutdown, which he ultimately opted against. Putting that kind of pressure on Senate Democrats only works, though, if House Republicans are unified.
“Time is ticking, and I think that’s the biggest challenge,” said Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee. “We spent the first seven months of this Congress focused on the ‘big, beautiful bill,’ which is necessary and incredibly important, and glad we were able to get that done. But now we’ve put ourselves in a position where we’re racing against the clock to get an appropriations package done. … It’s going to be a very busy four weeks.”
Republicans will also need near-unanimous support on a vote to authorize a subcommittee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol attack and the previous Democratic-led investigation into Jan. 6. That panel, set to be led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), was announced more than seven months ago but was never formally established as Republicans hashed out disputes about its legislative jurisdictions.
A slimmer majority could also have implications for Trump’s authority over Washington’s police force. His takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department, initiated in mid-August, needs Congressional approval to last beyond 30 days, though it is unclear whether Republicans will move to do so.
Lawmakers will also contend with Trump saying he wants $2 billion from Congress to fund his plan to “beautify” Washington — a sum that could invite scorn from fiscal hawks. The city is facing a shortfall after Congress effectively cut its budget by $1 billion earlier this year in a federal spending bill.
It’s not just pressures from Trump that leaders will face. A slimmer majority also helps Republicans willing to team up with Democrats in hopes of forcing votes on other hot-button issues through discharge petitions. The rarely-successful procedural gambit lets members circumvent leadership to force floor consideration of legislation if 218 members — a majority of the House — sign on.
Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) are planning a discharge petition to force consideration of their bill requiring the Trump administration to publicly release the so-called Epstein files. They have enough Republican cosponsors on the measure to reach the 218-signaure threshold if every Democrat signs on.
The duo will bring the Epstein issue to the forefront in the first days of Congress’ return with a press conference featuring Epstein survivors — though the environment on the GOP side may not be as tumultuous as in July in wake of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issuing subpoenas for Epstein-related documents and testimony.
But Massie told The Hill of the Epstein issue this month: “I don’t think this is going to go away.”
Stock trading is another issue set to see a discharge petition and bipartisan pressure. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), who brought a successful discharge petition on proxy voting for new parents earlier this year before the effort was later quashed by leadership, has also pledged to bring another one to ban individual stock trading by members of Congress.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) is among those pushing for another stock trading ban bill — but as of now, he is seeking to have it go through the committee process rather than force it straight to the floor.
“There’s a group of us on a bipartisan basis who are saying, look, time is now,” Roy said Thursday on CNBC. “I told Republican leadership I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt to get through the ‘big, beautiful bill’ and to make sure we can move forward and advance the president’s agenda.”
Luna also told Joe Rogan on his podcast this month she was planning a discharge petition to bring a vote on term limits for members of Congress, an idea that is less likely to get majority support.
All of those hot-button issues will come as the House also presses forward this month on the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a piece of must-pass legislation that is not only one of the biggest legislative exercises of the year, but also a target for those looking to attach other priorities.
Republicans earlier this year cut a deal to add a bill to block the creation of a central bank digital currency to the NDAA or must-pass legislation. And Tea Party Patriots Action has been pushing to attach a bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote to a must-pass measure like the NDAA.
Had Luna-tic been on active duty, Hegseth would have either demoted or fired her. Ask her who started the Ukraine War and whether she stands with Ukraine.

I was instrumental in the development of an organization called operation gratitude, which started out in 2003 I believe or so, in supporting our troops overseas and in hospitals stateside. They had packing of gifts donated by many companies that soldiers needed based on where they were stationed like Iraq, Germany, etc.
And inside those each, and every package, there was a letter written by an elementary school student who is writing to operation gratitude to thank the troops for their service, and that was inserted in the box that was sent out to every troop that they could afford to do so during those days.
They had volunteers to help with packing all the goodies on a once a month basis, and had usually between three and 400 volunteers and I bought and supplied lunch for every single one of them for probably three years\…
Today that organization has sent out more than 3 million packages to troops when back then they were a little tiny organization sending out 500 packages at a time. That was one of my contributions back then. I also want two awards from the company I worked for for seven years by the name the dedicated all its voluntary efforts to one organization, muscular dystrophy, and the Jerry Lewis telethon. In 1984 I raised $30,000 on my own for that effort, and managed the store for the company at the 1984 Olympic Village
Where I got many athletes from all over the world to donate. To MDA.
Many athletes signed posters for me, and I held an auction at the sportsman‘s Lodge in the San Fernando Valley with RICK Monday a former dodger, who was very supportive of my efforts.
Myself and many of my co-owners every year went down to the main homeless shelter in Los Angeles and fed the homeless with food we paid for and we did the service ourselves for them. We did that for about 10 years and even after I left that company they’re still doing it.
Also, during that time, the March of Dimes is a very important issue on the horizon still and I was the fifth largest contributor in Los Angeles to the annual campaign. They had that year that didn’t come from my pocket that came from walking the streets, walking into businesses and asking them to donate to the March of Dimes. In fact, one year while living on Miami Beach, I walked from first Street to 95th St. the Americana, stopping at every hotel patio outside, asking for donations with my little canister and took a dime from the canister to pay for my bus back to the Jacquie Gleason, Theatre, and telephone where the money was given to the March of Dimes Association.
When I bought my first business, the company happen to get behind a story of a kidnapper who took a child by the name of Adam WALSH, whose father still appears on TV some 35 years later and we were supportive of the search for Adam and did many fundraisers on his behalf.
Almost forgot a couple more we raised money for earthquake relief after the 84 earthquake when we lived in Los Angeles and we raised money and fed the firemen that battled the fires that many times affected Los Angeles back in the late 80s and early 90s.
Today I donate to a number of different charities such as tunnel to towers and Wounded Warriors. And donated quite a bit.soon after the towers…Came down.
I have many plaques in my home hanging on the wall from organizations like asthma, foundation, cancer society, muscular dystrophy and thanks for the companies I work for for my participation in the contributions I was able to Garner.
So those are the highlights of my compassion, including dog rescues that we currently have.
I worked probably 70-80 hours a week every week for 30 years other than vacations and since I retired a dozen years ago have traveled the world seeing 119 countries and countless world icons like the pyramids, Machu Picchu Antarctica, the Galapagos, the Great Wall , Mount Rushmore, Icelandthe ,the Alamo, the Anne Frank home, and Israel and Bethlehem and made numerous trips to Washington DC to all the museums and I’ve made at my life’s work and succeeded to have visited all 50 states

Well I spend my energy by doing a lot of things like making people aware that they’re not getting the full story they’re not getting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and I’ve already been able to at least make 2000 people aware who have sent me post that they like what I’ve said and more people need to at least investigate when I send links to the other half of the story that Heather doesn’t give you not to mention into my corporate world. When I bought my first business, the company happen to get behind a story of a kidnapper who took a child by the name of Adam WALSH, whose father still appears on TV some 35 years later and we were supportive of the search for Adam and did many fundraisers on his behalf.
Almost forgot a couple more we raised money for earthquake relief after the 84 earthquake when we lived in Los Angeles and we raised money and fed the firemen that battled the fires that many times affected Los Angeles back in the late 80s and early 90s.
Today I donate to a number of different charities such as tunnel to towers and Wounded Warriors. And donated quite a bit.soon after the towers…Came down.
I have many plaques in my home hanging on the wall from organizations like asthma, foundation, cancer society, muscular dystrophy and thanks for the companies I work for for my participation in the contributions I was able to Garner.
So those are the highlights of my compassion, including dog rescues that we currently have.
I worked probably 70-80 hours a week every week for 30 years other than vacations and since I retired a dozen years ago have traveled the world seeing 119 countries and countless world icons like the pyramids, Machu Picchu Antarctica, the Galapagos, the Great Wall , Mount Rushmore, Icelandthe ,the Alamo, the Anne Frank home, and Israel and Bethlehem and made numerous trips to Washington DC to all the museums and I’ve made at my life’s work and succeeded to have visited all 50 states

Just back from a 5 day mini vacation there. My wife's sister and our son were born there more than 50 years ago and were able to join us there with our son's family.
Here's what I started writing about that trip based on what a scuba boat crew member led me to discover:

Parts of three of our family branches met in Hawaii the week before and last week, including two born there from two generations. Among the people we met were two from Munich Germany, where my sister was born, Veterans and family members of Hawaiian Veterans of mixed Okinawan pre-WWII Japanese and Chinese ancestry who either served in or knew people who served in the initial 100th Infantry Battalion (separate) that were mostly Nisei (1st gen American born to Japanese born Americans) as former members of the Hawaii Army National Guard. That unit trained at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin near where my father was later stationed at Volk Field.

House GOP leaders are staring down a politically fraught and legislatively jam-packed September as lawmakers return to Washington — all while their tiny majority is set to get even slimmer.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) must contend with a Sept. 30 government funding deadline amid disputes among Republicans on the structure and length of a stopgap and as Democrats have the power to force a shutdown.
Calls for more disclosures about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which thwarted leadership’s plans ahead of the August recess, are set to come back to the forefront. And GOP lawmakers are planning to press their leaders on hot-button issues like stock trading, while contending with demands from President Trump on crime and beyond.
Adding to the pressure are two special elections in September that almost certainly will add two Democrats to the chamber in seats open due to the deaths of Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) and Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.). Virginia’s special election is Sept. 9, and Arizona’s is Sept. 23.
That will give Republicans less breathing room on party-line votes, being able to afford just two GOP defections rather than three, assuming all members are present and voting.
In a majority that includes lawmakers who routinely oppose continuing resolutions (CRs) to extend government funding when there is no time left for the regular appropriations process — like Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) — having even one fewer vote could complicate the GOP strategy on a funding stopgap.
The last GOP-designed CR in March was sent to the Senate after every Democrat and Massie voted no, leaving Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to make the call on whether to force a government shutdown, which he ultimately opted against. Putting that kind of pressure on Senate Democrats only works, though, if House Republicans are unified.
“Time is ticking, and I think that’s the biggest challenge,” said Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee. “We spent the first seven months of this Congress focused on the ‘big, beautiful bill,’ which is necessary and incredibly important, and glad we were able to get that done. But now we’ve put ourselves in a position where we’re racing against the clock to get an appropriations package done. … It’s going to be a very busy four weeks.”
Republicans will also need near-unanimous support on a vote to authorize a subcommittee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol attack and the previous Democratic-led investigation into Jan. 6. That panel, set to be led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), was announced more than seven months ago but was never formally established as Republicans hashed out disputes about its legislative jurisdictions.
A slimmer majority could also have implications for Trump’s authority over Washington’s police force. His takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department, initiated in mid-August, needs Congressional approval to last beyond 30 days, though it is unclear whether Republicans will move to do so.
Lawmakers will also contend with Trump saying he wants $2 billion from Congress to fund his plan to “beautify” Washington — a sum that could invite scorn from fiscal hawks. The city is facing a shortfall after Congress effectively cut its budget by $1 billion earlier this year in a federal spending bill.
It’s not just pressures from Trump that leaders will face. A slimmer majority also helps Republicans willing to team up with Democrats in hopes of forcing votes on other hot-button issues through discharge petitions. The rarely-successful procedural gambit lets members circumvent leadership to force floor consideration of legislation if 218 members — a majority of the House — sign on.
Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) are planning a discharge petition to force consideration of their bill requiring the Trump administration to publicly release the so-called Epstein files. They have enough Republican cosponsors on the measure to reach the 218-signaure threshold if every Democrat signs on.
The duo will bring the Epstein issue to the forefront in the first days of Congress’ return with a press conference featuring Epstein survivors — though the environment on the GOP side may not be as tumultuous as in July in wake of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issuing subpoenas for Epstein-related documents and testimony.
But Massie told The Hill of the Epstein issue this month: “I don’t think this is going to go away.”
Stock trading is another issue set to see a discharge petition and bipartisan pressure. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), who brought a successful discharge petition on proxy voting for new parents earlier this year before the effort was later quashed by leadership, has also pledged to bring another one to ban individual stock trading by members of Congress.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) is among those pushing for another stock trading ban bill — but as of now, he is seeking to have it go through the committee process rather than force it straight to the floor.
“There’s a group of us on a bipartisan basis who are saying, look, time is now,” Roy said Thursday on CNBC. “I told Republican leadership I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt to get through the ‘big, beautiful bill’ and to make sure we can move forward and advance the president’s agenda.”
Luna also told Joe Rogan on his podcast this month she was planning a discharge petition to bring a vote on term limits for members of Congress, an idea that is less likely to get majority support.
All of those hot-button issues will come as the House also presses forward this month on the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a piece of must-pass legislation that is not only one of the biggest legislative exercises of the year, but also a target for those looking to attach other priorities.
Republicans earlier this year cut a deal to add a bill to block the creation of a central bank digital currency to the NDAA or must-pass legislation. And Tea Party Patriots Action has been pushing to attach a bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote to a must-pass measure like the NDAA.

I live in the state of the "other" Portland (although I live 120 miles to the south), and there are some similarities between her views and mine (my beach photos usually include my bare feet having waded in the ocean). I've been to Maine a couple times, and really want to go back.

We enjoyed an energizing protest here today in Clayton, Missouri (one of many in the St. Louis area.) We were a diverse group of young and older, black and white and many union members - teachers, federal employees and laborers. What a fun day!

Actually, though tired after a cousin, our brother-in-law's sister, then our brother-in law died 40 days short of his 87th birthday, followed by our daughter's father-in-law, we are fired up to get back to work even harder than the House and Senate is today starting extended sessions (beyond what their initial schedule for the year showed).
I do hope as many as possible are rested up and ready to fight even harder than the House and Senate slim majorities, from today on.
