I have considered, at a very basic level, that a republic is a STRUCTURE of government without inherited leadership, and democracy is a PHILOSOPHY of government that supports equal access to society’s freedom’s and opportunities. The two are connected only by choice. Hence democratic republic. But not all republics are democratic (USSR) and not all democracies are republics (UK).

The unstated parallels between Trump and Al Capone, vis a vis tax evasion, is not lost on me. I’ve always thought he behaves more like a mob boss than a boss, even before he entered into politics. His thuggery is so blatant, how could anyone on the planet not see that?

Because his supporters are in desperate denial and would rather believe blatant falsehoods than release Trump’s hold on them. He’s delivering what they want - racism and anti-intellectualism on an industrial scale, which makes them feel soooo much better aboyt their own lives.

I love that idea: “I am America” You should advertise that on all the social media platforms and get as many people to do it as possible. It’s probably kind of late to get enough together for the 4th of July but as a kind of rallying cry coming up to the midterms, like “We are America! We decide our government!”

That bright green algae bloom is SO much better than the reflection of the sky in all its moods, don’cha reckon? Ah well, it’s not just the US administration and Trump’s brain that’s rotting, it seems.
