I agree! Honesty, respect, responsibility - all disappear with MAGA. I don't know what could help them see except for total loss, that seems to be coming if we can't hang on for a year+.
Debbie, Historically I think fascists don't need to win elections. They "inch" up in the polls and then use an excuse (usually a false flag atrocity) to take over for the 'good of all'. See Putin, Franco, Hitler blah blah blah...Pinochet in Chile said it was for 'National Re-construction', Mussolini murdered an opponent, and admitted to it in front of a parliament with no opposition, because they were all afraid of him. Do not rely only on the vote, the attempt to take over will come from somewhere again, just as it did on Jan. 6. Our Christian Nationalist will try it again. So, we vote but we must also be vigilant in these dangerous times for our precious USA. American been berry berry gooood to me!
Bruce, knowing the history can help me to see the fascistic game plan for what it is (it still leaves room for error on my part, I hope you notice) and to avoid making the same mistakes we tried (I assume) to avoid back when our grandparents were still young and beautiful. But what different "things" can we try this time around?
Hey Les, wonderful Question. I think it's all about being prepared to shut the Fascists down, the moment they attempt the next takeover. I think our forces, and then Liz Cheney et al have done a wonderful job with Jan 6, and Mr. Smith needs to bring it home. I just need to know whether there is now a similar group of competent people ready for the next onslaught. Mark my words, it will come, because fascists can't get into power any other way...I think. I would never have said this being a PIRG student, but I hope that DOJ, FBI is watching Cruz and all the others with day and night vision, constantly. They are a clear and present danger to our democracy and way of life. And not to over dramatize, even our very lives. We need to exert power of the state at the right time.
