Dr. Richardson, you are a national treasure. A true hero. An academic in the best sense of the word who uses her training as a public service in this incredibly terrifying time. You have my utmost gratitude and complete respect. Thank you so much for all you do!

Thanks to Prof. Richardson for keeping us appraised of the latest antics of Trump and the GOP.

Ten years ago, if someone had told me that the nature of Arnold Palmer’s genitals would figure into a presidential candidate’s speech, I would have laughed at them. Today, sadly, nothing really surprises me about anything Trump says or does. What does concern me is that approximately half the voting populace of the country thinks Trumps is fit for office. I was brought up to be kind and charitable toward my fellow man and woman, or at least tolerant of those with different views, but I have to admit to having somewhat less than charitable thoughts about the MAGA crowd and those that would vote for someone like Trump. What are they thinking?

Maybe we can fool him into thinking he is going into the White House, when in reality he is being checked into an assisted living facility.

We can even let him think he has authority over all the residents

I read your letter last night/ early this morning and just finished listening to it now. I was struck both times with how petty and insincere Donald Trump is! What a silly ploy his attempt to show that he could also work at McDonald’s was. Shame on his staff for setting this up!

Thank you for another analysis of the former president’s desire to be president again.

The more he performs (presumably this time attempting either to embarrass Vice President Harris for working at a McDonald’s franchise or to prove that he could also work at a McDonald’s ) his effort failed. His policies and those of the Republican leadership have only proved how unqualified they are to lead. Unlike Eisenhower they have no concerns regarding the efficient running of the country or for the people who must work in under paid positions which do little to help their families live a middle class life. (Sigh)

NOBODY would list a summer job at McDonald’s on an application for law school. Their application would end up in a “ circular file” for sure, and his interviewers would be falling down laughing. Obviously he cheated his way into law school and daddy bribed someone to take his exams. He doesn’t have a clue how people live their lives.

Thank you once again for this fantastic history lesson. Your letters to an American have improved my history reading tremendously. Today I went to the grocery store wearing my pin as I do every day except today three women came up to me, put their arm on my arm and thanked me for wearing my Kamala pin

Thank you for, once again, untangling the present events and revealing the history that informs them. You are continuing to help me understand what is happening in real time, vs reading about it 10 years from now in a history book! For we are in significant historic times, (if that makes sense)!! As the Republicans continue to prop up their candidate and seemingly ignor the precipitous mental decline that is obvious to all, it begs the question: Why? If Trump is simply there as a puppet serving a strategy, (which seems more and more likely), then who is actually in the power position controlling, guiding, manipulating? Much more to say, but I'll leave it there!!

I'm a subscriber and daily reader of Heather's column. But, I don't need an audio version of the letter also. Is there a way for me to unsubscribe to the audio email? Thanks.
