Going to take the night off and high-tail it to bed.

Will see you all tomorrow, rested.

[Photo by Peter Ralston. It's titled "Perseverence," and was at least part of the inspiration for last night's post.]

Thank you, Heather, for everything you’ve given us in the last 14 months with your letters. Last night’s was particularly brilliant and poignant. I printed it to read it out loud at our Thanksgiving table in between dinner and dessert. I’m going to save it to read on future Thanksgivings. I feel like you’ve written a national prayer for strength and resilience in the face of our chronic struggles. You, more than anyone else, have given me a much more profound sense of what it means to be an American and what our country, at its best, contributes to the world.

Yesterday's piece was world class, Heather. Wonderful to have a true story well told. We need more truth along with its kissing cousin, beauty.
