Except for yet another insidious AD -inflicted from corporate America ЁЯджтАНтЩАя╕П ...love the song Babara, thanks...seeing the voting numbers surge by these young people is wonderful. I agree re тАШwhat happens beyond our bordersтАЩ (or as some on the right mistakenly write, boarders!) is often lacking here. Not only does it leave huge gaps in our knowledge about how other democracies operate, but it also supports the false narrative of American exceptionalism. If we as Americans donтАЩt follow news beyond our shores, we assume that we are тАЬthe one and onlyтАЭ - the shining city on the hill. To me, this narrative leads easily to the increasing intolerance of тАЬthe otherтАЭ - automatically labeling most immigrants as тАЬillegalтАЭ.
I really don't count those two when I think of MSM. I think mostly of television news and worse, such as scripted talk shows designed to 'splain it down to us dummies
I tried Apple News+ for a while, but didnтАЩt like it for the reason you mention, as well as the fact that тАЬsupportedтАЭ publications only provide a limited list of their full publication. I switched to Newsify, which is much more тАЬecumenicalтАЭ. I can read my NYT and WaPo there, along with many other news feeds. IтАЩve customized it to what I want to see over the past year. And itтАЩs cheaper than Apple News.
Yes -- instead we get endless hours of idle (and poorly informed) speculation about trump. After a couple attempts to get news on CNN yesterday, we finally turned it off. This would have been actual "news you can use," as we used to say in the biz many years ago.
As always so informative. and tying all the threads together. It's democracy and the rule of law!
Thanks Heather for taking the time to truly inform us with the relevant facts and themes
Jon Meacham nailed it - elemental...mens' grill enablers...
Ray, could you be a little more specific with that reference?

Wow, BK. Wonderful that he is still going strong.

I remember my youngest singing this in his 3rd grade school choir...those earnest little faces and clear voices!
