Incoherent babbling at a campaign rally is one thing, but such mindless verbal diarrhea about water policy actions is criminal incompetence. Trump is totally untethered from reality. But we knew that long before the election.

It is truly alarming that we live in a nation in which some 49.5% (far from a landslide or big "mandate") would vote for a convicted felon, proven sexual predator, someone who demonstrated incredible levels of incompetence during his first term (152 historians voted 45 tied with James Buchanan as the worst US president). His gross mishandling of COVID resulted in tens of thousands of lives. Now, in a few short weeks, he has taken an economy that was the envy of the world and slowed the US economy (10% drop in the Dow) with his exceeding dumb tariffs that have created a self inflicted trade war with our closest ally. And his illegal and cruel destruction of US agencies by firing hundreds of thousands of productive workers demonstrates now only his incompetence but absence of empathy and compassion. Character traits alien to his dangerously narcissistic personality.

I have been contacting my congressional delegation telling them they need to stand up to Trump. By phone.

It doesn’t seem to be working.

Should I be contacting every member of Congress including spineless Schumer? He’s not in my district.

Is everyone else Calling your legislators daily?

I tell them they need to stand up to Trump. That Congress along can make laws and appropriations. That Elon is a private citizen with no legal or constitutional authority to do what he is doing.

What else should I be doing? Please advise. Thank you!

i’m calling, emailing, and snail-mailing my senator (lindsey graham) and representative (nancy mace) every single day. i have absolutely no expectation of either of them seeing the light but i’m staying the course. both of them are deeply entrenched in maga ideology. imo, graham is a hypocritical turn-coat and mace is just as narcissistic and attention thirsty as 47.

Writing letters to the editor of local news sources is another good idea.

Dr. Cox Richardson often advocates finding your niche and working to protect that chosen interest. Like education, or safe water.

Also important--be willing to say to neighbors and friends that this isn't right. For example, it's our right to decide how our tax dollars are spent, not Musk. And that we don't want the broken, wasteful government he's creating.

Something important to me personally -- I often find myself speaking out for empathy. I'm trying to encourage people to stop conflating empathy with submission, weakness, or ignoring wrongs. Empathy is extraordinarily powerful. It requires accountability while also holding the door open for grace and mercy. It's at the core of American ideals, and represents everything MAGA cannot comprehend.

I think we need to express that aspect of our worldview clearly, loudly, and unapologetically.

Time will tell whether those 10 Democratic senators who joined the Republican majority last night to pass the CR bill have in doing so done more harm than good. A Virginia appeals panel yesterday unanimously allowed the administration to continue with its DEI purge. The New Yorker's Julian Lucas wrote yesterday about what he calls "a loose coalition of archivists and librarians" who are trying to preserve government records that are being deleted by the government, described by one scientist as "digital book burning" - https://www.npr.org/2025/02/05/nx-s1-5286577/researcher-calls-out-trump-administration-for-a-digital-book-burning

This vandalism of government records and vital data (all lumped under the head of 'wokeness' ) was lauded by Trump in his recent speech to Congress. "It's gone. And we feel so much better for it, don’t we? Don’t we feel better?” Schumer might have thought about this before surrending leverage.

The fastest way to contact your congressional delegation in DC is to call the capitol Switchboard. 202-224-3121.

Just FYI, for anyone who is in a hurry. I think they’re tired of hearing from me so feel free to call them early and often :-)

Thank you for your advocacy!

Doesn’t trump’s lack of knowledge of how one change affects business down the line show that he never, EVER, was he a good businessman?! I think it shows again how stupid he is.

I love that you read his words, just as he spoke them - a completely incoherent rant. I'm surprised that they let him appear in public; the mental decline is so obvious.

Guessing that we might see less and less of him as his inability to deliver anything but garble continues.

I like that approach too. Whenever someone reads his words aloud, it is clear to me that not only should he step away from any position of authority, but that he should also get assistance with handling money, driving, and big decisions. I mean that seriously; those are hard issues to face. It is time for better processes to deal with mental illness and incapacity among the most powerful.

Many thanks for reciting the raging dumpster fire’s actual, specific words about “breaking into” or “invading” Los Angeles to release “the water”. I have rarely seen anyone say such delusional, incoherent gibberish and go on for such a long rant, about the real facts on the ground in California that prove him demonstrably wrong. This suggests to me that he is suffering either dementia (too much microplastic in the brain?) or, my suspicion that he contracted mad cow disease from eating too many steaks and burgers “over there” such as at his golf courses. In either case (or both?), everyone in power is just letting him do whatever he wants (they view and fear him as their king, or divine being). The insanity will only appear to end if he loses the ability to function, such as through a medical procedure or a medical emergency. If he must go under general anesthesia for say, a surgical procedure, at his age, will he have a deranged reaction upon reawakening? If he woke up and then behaved twice as delusional, when does the “Cabinet” decide to invoke the 25th Amendment? But I would rather him daily tell all the world his delusions, than face the prospect of white Christian nationalist and enemy of our allies JD Vance were to take over; someone noted the “Yarvin philosophy” recently. If Humpty Dumpty has a great fall (such as a stroke), who becomes president: JD or The DOG Elon?

Trump is out of his mind and doing a great deal of harm to our country daily. But he is so surrounded by loyalists, and purposefully so, so we cannot impeach him in any way that is constitutional... not with the 25th Amendment or the Congress. This cannot go on. The opposition grows daily too.. thankfully. We cannot continue like this. It's been barely 2 months since we inaugurated this monster.

This from CNN about the water incident in which was so off that it was not simply lying it was indication of how disconnected Trump is from reality. https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/14/politics/fact-check-trump-los-angeles-water/index.html
