The IRS has received more funding, Joe. 'The Inflation Reduction Act provided $80 billion in additional funding to the IRS, much of which is dedicated to closing the tax gap by specifically enforcing tax compliance by the wealthiest tax evaders. (Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, Feb 8, 2024) It has a lot to do!

'U.S. billionaires are 46 percent, or $1.6 trillion, richer than they were in 2020.'

'According to a 2021 White House study, the wealthiest 400 billionaire families in the U.S. paid an average federal individual tax rate of just 8.2 percent. For comparison, the average American taxpayer in the same year paid 13 percent.'

'According to leaked tax returns highlighted in a ProPublica investigation, the 25 richest Americans paid $13.6 billion in taxes from 2014-2018—a “true” tax rate of just 3.4 percent on $401 billion of income.'

Fern I think it is more than interesting that Republicans want to claw back that funding to the IRS. I wonder why?

My poor bro thinks they are coming for him. That’s the word from the MAGAts.

Faux news peddled the lie that the IRS was going to hire 87,000 gun toting agents to come to the homes of middle class Americans and collect money.

I had a friend that watches Faux news several hours a day. He told me this is what the money was going to be used for.

I'm guessing Fox never files retractions for their BS stories unless they lose a huge defamation case and the judges forces them to.

my bro heard that and believes it. Hope is disabused him of that. But he has "friends" that watch Fox.

Jeri, coming after him with the new agents doesn’t make sense—a return of less than $1 per dollar spent (the return on a wealthy tax cheat is more like $8 for every dollar spent).

Does anything make sense to people who listen to magats.?? Or televangelists, for that matter.

Authoritarian leaders know it's easier to control the populace when they are uneducated and poor.

And they do it primarily with fear. Killing babies and allowing murderous criminals to cross the border.

Yesterday 6 undocumented immigrants were turned away at the border as opposed to the truckloads the MAGAnazis tell us.
