We have a family friend who has had a liver transplant (most expenses paid) due to some weird liver disease he contracted when young. He is now in his early 60s on anti-rejection meds. Let's hope his transplant lasts another 30 years. He has voted 3x against his medical well-being and is not a gazillionaire. If his liver fails him, no matter how healthy his lifestyle, his treatment options will more than likely be unaffordable. People need to wake up to the reality of the Republican Senator Joni Ernst's sound byte, "Well, we're all gonna die."

Cuts to Medicare most likely will end Medicare as a standalone, completing the privatization of Medicare via ripoff Medicare Advantage Plans that enrich health insurance companies by withholding care to seniors and disabled people. In most states, once you opt for a Medicare Advantage Plan, you cannot opt back to standalone Medicare with a MediGap plan due to underwriting requirements that function like pre-existing condition exclusions.

What we witnessed with the release of the Republican budget bill just before midnight is not just legislative gamesmanship, it is an assault on democratic transparency and a betrayal of the American people.
This bill, buried under cover of darkness, favors the ultra wealthy with permanent tax cuts, while slashing Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. It funnels billions to ICE while stripping basic health coverage from nearly 12 million Americans. If passed, it would leave people sicker, poorer, and less free. And that is the point.
This is not governance. It is plunder disguised as policy, written by those who no longer feel beholden to the public. It echoes the 1890 McKinley Tariff, when the government showed open contempt for working people and catered only to the wealthy elite. Back then, the backlash was swift and historic. We must make it so again.
A democracy cannot survive if it serves only the rich, criminalizes the poor, and detains the desperate. Americans are not just voters, we are the stewards of freedom. And when lawmakers forget that, it is up to us to remind them.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s in SoCal. It was understood that the immigrant farm workers had temp visas to work and return home. They were underpaid. Flights ensure and things changed. What is that history now that T is thinking he will spare some immigrants so they can work farms, hotels, and construction?

I don't understand why you're saying that? The oldest of the SCOTUS justices Alito and Thomas & Robers, will never retire and the rest are too young.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s in SoCal. It was understood that the immigrant farm workers had temp visas to work and return home. They were underpaid. Flights ensure and things changed. What is that history now that T is thinking he will spare some immigrants so they can work farms, hotels, and construction?
