My Mom who is 96 has a No Kings sign on her front lawn.Well her Meals on Meals delivery woman came up shouting swearing and shaking her fist at my mother, scaring her and now she wants her sign down.She is frightened. So much is wrong in this country and this is a tiny little story but I'm disgusted and getting so sad about these changes. What a mess.
I'm 74 and facing breast cancer .I feel so very low.Keep fighting please for me and my mother.
My husband and I deliver Meals on Wheels and would never think of saying something to someone if we disagreed with a sign on their lawn. I wish your Mom lived on our delivery route.
Ummm, absolutely not. I’m HR director of the entity that oversees MOW for Summit, Utah, and Wasatch Counties (Utah), and if one of our clients was treated like this by a MOW volunteer or employee, and I found out about it, I’d lose my mind. No matter what the content of the scolding happened to be, this behavior would not go unaddressed 😬
First step, if you have access to a lawyer friend speak to them about how you should proceed. If you do not have access to such a person look for a local organization that deals with issues of elder abuse. Not knowing where you or your moon live, I can’t get more specific. Feeling isolated and helpless is not what you want to be. I’d be scared too. But you need to actively look for people and organizations whose goal is elder care/ safety. If nothing else, you may want to deal directly with the organization that employs this unhinged moron who freighted your mother.
I am only making suggestions. You know your own and your mother’s situation better than an outsider. But, I will say this, you need to actively address this. Bullies and cowards like this person who bullied your mom usually crawl back under a rock one they are confronted and exposed.
Do not live in fear of taking steps to address this problem. At least talk to people who are tasked with dealing with this kind of behavior on the part of the person who intimidated your mom.

But looking back over history, espeicially in Nazi Germany, there was a point in which the people gave into fear and moved into the shadows or stood by in silent disagreement and horror. They waited for salvation from outside, which came too late to save so many. In the interim many were pressed into deplorible services.
We are scared and that is understandable. But it's your right to have a boundary and to say no bullies. Don't let them tell you otherwise.
Courage isn't the abscense of fear, its the determination to stand up in spite of it. And we need this now more than ever if we are to avoid full on genocide -- internationally, experts are warning that we are just a couple steps away from this.
If you are not able to stand directly in opposition, that's okay, we all get it. But keep doing what you did here. Share your stories. Don't let them silence you.

Would you feel more comfortable anonymously (dialing *67 before dialing the #) calling your mom's local Meals on Wheels office to let the supervisor know the delivery person had behaved that way w/out sharing where, to whom or why? There's no excuse for that behavior. The supervisor could at least counsel that person to behave appropriately.
I know this is. might not solve your problem but this women must be reported to the proper authorities. She should not be in her position with no more self control than she has.

That is inexcusable, I was a Meals on Wheels deliver person when in my 20s just to do something to give back. Had a little MG and the container only just fit in the front seat. All those older shut in people became my friends and I was just as glad to see them in my little car as they were to see me and a meal. Only an evil immoral person would act that way. If I could I would help her keep that sign up!

I'm so angry even my 96 yr old mom is.
LBGT..I'm so afraid for my friends and people who came here seeking a safer better life.
I have called MoW and reported my mom's driver.I am not sure what will happen but I told them and the director said he was horrified.
