Katie Porter has long been my favorite House member. I'll miss her, but I've got another contender, Jasmine Crockett. This is what I posted today on a Boston Globe piece about Biden:

Over the past two days, I've heard two of our Representatives take opposite positions about whether or not Biden should run. Jasmine Crockett (https://crockett.house.gov/about) of TX and Adam Smith (https://adamsmith.house.gov/) of CA. Congressman Smith blamed Biden for not communicating his message well enough. Representative Crockett took up the challenge and communicated forcefully why she is supporting the President, talking specifically about all the help he has provided for the community that she represents. My thanks to Rep. Crockett. My question to Congressman Smith: why don't you spread the good word about what an excellent President Biden has been and will continue to be? Biden is busy right now being President, welcoming the NATO ministers to the White House and preparing support for Ukraine, so it makes sense to me for the House members in his party to do some excellent communicating to their constituents on behalf of our President.
I love Jasmine Crockett. She is fabulous!
Indeed she is. We need more like her.
I like Katie Porter as well Betsy - a lot.
Love Katie, pissed that two тАЬgreatsтАЭ oppose each other
Jeri, probably more in common than not, itтАЩs just that there was only one seat to compete for. I was on many hiring committeeтАЩs in my time & was so frustrating to have to choose only one candidate when there more than one excellent choice, often wishing we could hire both! Many a time making the call (I always called rather than sending a letter) to let someone know they werenтАЩt selected & if they were one of the excellent choices, I would tell them how impressed we were and to encourage them to continue to pursue positions on campus.
Have we lost both of those House seats.
Wish we had more like Jasmine, she is the future of the Democratic Party!
I'm guessing that there are more like her. We just have to listen when they speak and to support them as they express a desire to be our public servants.
