Oh, I forgot to mention. We need a national strike; bring America to a screeching halt. Labor Day! ...and that whole week and demand abdication of this government; a new election.

We all have to move now—and into action against a harmful government that sponsors pedophiles and covers up for them. The needy and children are being abused—by our government. We must protest in the streets until we go down or we oust tyrants, outright crooks, and pedophiles. I made 33 protest signs, and will make many more to share. You will see something different in these signs! Help yourself to this first batch, and share them as far as you can. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/free-protest-signs?r=3m1bs

Thank you! As the Brits say, it is time, and more than time, for us to be in the streets and on general strike. This must stop.

I was thinking of blowing up a photo of Epstein and Trump and putting something like “no kings, no Pedo’s”. At the top.

What do you think?

Gosh, democracy's a lot of work nowadays!

Thank you, again, for your post and your comment re: the content of this one. Because I was so busy yesterday and all of last week with my life + what I'm doing in my local community, which is under attack in multiple big ways, I was exhausted last night. So, I just read this one around noon on Sunday.

I've decided to take today off. Were it not for the heat + storms in the weather forecast, I'd go for a hike or paddle my kayak w/ my dog swimming alongside w/ his PFD tied to my kayak.

Instead, I'm going to rest, enjoy taking in the news (despite how strange that sounds) and attend to my self-care physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and socially while getting ready for yet another busy week and, as you forecasted so accurately, a really difficult summer.

Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing Sunday! Just being happy is an effective expression of resistance. That's what's up just for today in my life! Wishing the same for everyone else in this wonderful community you've created and nurture so beautifully!

So the Epstein's birthday book goes to the WSJ, which is owned by Murdock who also owns Fox.

It appears that the Birthday book info was disclosed by G Maxwell's brother, presumably to signal to Trump that a way out of the Epstein scandal is to make a deal with her.

JD Vance visited the Murdocks June 11 according to Airforce 2 records.

How does all this fit together?

Gayle Logan's avatar

I find it strange that WSJ & NYT have both been attacking on the Epstein issue when the silence of our mainstream news media on GOP lies, misinformation, and bigotry has been noticeable since Reagan ended the Fairness Doc. It may be that certain rich conservative greedy white men are tired of T and see that his antics are not sitting well with MAGAs whose votes they may need to get past the midterms. Getting rid of T will not end the danger we are in. If Vance, a protegee of Thiel, becomes president, they might be able to speed up the process of ending our democracy under the cover of moving T out.

This national strike and so forth is nothing sixties romanticism. You aren't going to bring America to a "screeching halt." How much effect did Occupy Wall Street have? Most people don't want their lives disrupted. The way to stop all this is to win elections. It's not going to change in the streets and all this would be give Trump an excuse to really Crack down. Trump's policies are already unpopular, but if you take to the streets you are, imo, doing him a favor

Gayle Logan's avatar

Occupy Wall St is not the right example. Most people do not even understand how it works. Do you remember the protests by MLK et al? They were trying to get all of the rights that the rest of us already had. And it did help pressure the government to DO something. OUR job now is to stop them from taking any more of our rights. Thousands of immigrants and people seeking asylum have already lost their rights and been put in prisons & tortured. (Alligator Alcatraz = Auschwitz). Large protests do upset the administration. That is why they tried to come down so hard on LA and bring the National Guard, ICE & reserves as a show of force. That is why the GOP reactions during the Black Lives Protests were to claim that POC were dangerous and the protests should not be allowed. Kathy Hochul and the governor pushed back. T/MAGA wanted to gain control of CA. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the mainstream news being in the pockets of the GOP and citizens who choose not to vote or vote 3rd party or to even seek the facts. We may NOT have legitimate elections in 2026. Abbott and other GOP governors are trying to gerrymander their states, plus they may use some of their tactics from the general election - buying votes, voting machine manipulation, voter suppression etc. We need to inform the public. There are people in every state that have continued to protest since the NO KINGS DAY.

Read the international research about autocratic takeovers. To suceed we do need more than an electoral strategy -- we need a strong civil society movement of non cooperation, but it has to grow and a GS could only help after a LOT of work, engagement and organizing. Fortunately there are many more tactics available. We all need to learn how to meet this moment.

Gayle Logan's avatar

I am aware of autocratic takeovers and do know that an electoral strategy is not sufficient. We do need to protest in large numbers. T/MAGA are getting angry about them. They will use the killing of Kirk as an excuse to stop them from happening because every time there are more people in red areas speaking up. The media is NOT doing its job (no big surprise since they've been in GOP pockets). The vast majority of people in this nation will not strike - they cannot afford to or will fear being fired - especially in red states.

The problem is that most elections won’t be happening soon enough. We need something that can work faster. I don’t know what that might be. Maybe something that gets republicans to wake the hell up and fight like crazy against the damage that’s being done, and start reversing the damage. Seems like a few cracks might be starting to appear in the Republican loyalty to Trump and his policymakers and appointees.

Marc Schneider's avatar

Why would Republicans care about a bunch of liberal Democrats protesting or striking? The point is the left needs to focus on persuading voters that Trump's policies are bad. They need to provide an attractive alternative. The midterm elections are next year. To me, that's what the Democrats need to focus. The fact is, like it or not and I don't like it, that Trump is president and the Republicans control the government. I don't see how street action is going to change that and it most likely would help Trump. Remember that, after all the anti-Vietnam protests in the sixties, Nixon was elected twice.

robert e williamson jr's avatar

Excuse me folks. Marc I can tell you why. You will not agree most likely, so be it.

Republicans and democrats of the 1970's wanted to end the war in Vietnam. People in the streets. The natives started to get very restless. The U.S. Government floundering in lies about the war, (anything sounding familiar?) politically were becoming terrified of supporting a war which seems it would be never ending. (Anything sounding familiar- SEE: Ukraine)

You maybe right about the 2020 late teen to middle aged adult right wing fanatical, war forever, republicans and faux liberal , wars forever democrats, but not for much longer. See "Donald of Orange's" popularity numbers. As a direct result the republicans find themselves in a very unfavorable situation and they don't seem to be in agreement on things.

People in general don't care for boots being placed on their necks. In my strongly held opinion.

People in the streets, it's happening already.

Nice try and good luck!

Marc - You have the option to just stay home.

Marc Schneider's avatar

Sure, but you missed the point. I despise Trump, but imo, calling for some kind of national strike would not accomplish anything. Whether I stay home is irrelevant. I want to see Trump's policies defeated. I just don't think action in the street is going to do it.

Kathy H's avatar

Elections aren't enough, strikes exercise the power of solidarity, not doing that is doing the favor, obeyed in advance, trying to appease abusers of power. Yes, there are many, many losses in the advancement of human rights, but continuing to do everything possible for positive change is the only thing that ever has worked. There is no one perfect answer, it's diverse effort & collective power.

All the Epstein stuff is a distraction of what Project 2025 is doing. Don’t get me wrong, child abuse if reprehensible and all those who harm a child should pay with their freedom, and get their’s behind bars! Drumpf doesn't care about leading, just about the trappings of being in charge…his destruction of Kennedy Rose Garden and wanting a golden hall are trappings of a tyrants.
