Tim Snyder sent an email out to his readers this afternoon with what I assume are the details of that Twitter thread. It is stunning information to think about deeper disarray of the key FBI office in charge of cyber counterintelligence being corrupted and no one paying it any attention. The McGonigal story is truly just the tip of the iceberg

The press is so critical and good journalism is priceless. I am so appreciative of all who are informing us, and this forum is helping me to understand what is going on.

Leslie,

Just read Snyder's letter. Thank you for pointing me to it. All I can say is: WOW, the Republicans have all lined up behind Putin now and Fox News is hiding that from America which means that FOX NEWS is getting money from Russia now and is on board for a Russia takeover of the the USA.

I would say it really is a serious worry having Fox News, which is about to start Spanish Language programming across America, be an American version of Pravda and Russian TV.

I cannot believe we are allowing all of this to happen and, worse, that 73 MILLION people have been duped already.

HIGHLIGHTS from Ballotpedia October 2022

тАв As of October 2022, 48 million registered voters in these areas identified themselves as Democrats. At 38.78%, Democrats represented the single largest share of registered voters in the states and territories that allow voters to indicate partisan affiliation on their registration forms.

тАв A total of 36.4 million registered voters identified themselves as Republicans, representing 29.42% of registered voters in these areas.

тАв A total of 35.3 million registered voters identified themselves as independents or unaffiliated with any political party. This amounted to 28.55% of registered voters in these areas.

тАв Approximately 4 million registered voters identified themselves as members of other political parties. This amounted to 3.25% of registered voters in these areas.

тАв In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden (D) received a combined 53.5% of the vote to Donald TrumpтАЩs (R) 44.7% across these states and territories. Both candidates received a larger percentage of votes than the percentage of their respective partyтАЩs registered voters.

тАв Independent and third-party voters made up 31.80% of all registered voters in these areas, while independent and third-party presidential candidates received about 1.9% of the vote nationwide.

And finally. My favorite story of how political discourse works in a comment forum such as this morning's.

Barbara, thank you so much for including day is key statistics about the voters in America. It is commonly misunderstood that Republicans and Democrats equally split the vote. That is not true, as your data support. We need to have faith that we can convince our persuadable independent friends that they can confidently vote for Democratic candidates. That is our job for 2024.

You are welcome. Facts are beautiful things!

Mike,

While none of us alone is free to desist from trying to understand or follow the broad brushes of these stories Re: ongoing attacks against democracy NEITHER are we responsible for тАЬallowing all of this to happen.тАЭ

What to do?

I adopt my friend Jessica CravenтАЩs (see тАЬChop Wood, Carry WaterтАЭ on Substack) attitude. Do one thing. Something. Anything. Pick you issue, nurture and deepen your understanding and command of it and be the sounding bell for friends and others in your sphere of influence. Communicate with your electeds. DonтАЩt try to change Fox, but do influence your media sources when they go astray. Etc.

Mainly, as I have found and now do, connect on the ground in the electoral seasons with an issues or candidate campaign and knock on doors. That face-to-face meeting will do far more in the long run, I assure you, than anything else you might imagine тАФ for you and the other conversation partner! Even when they may not agree with youтАж

Leslie, I find it all SO James Bond, without any of the sexiness of the movie character....just wish the real-life plot would have its final twist and reveal the true villains: DJT, Steve Bannon, Bill Barr, etc.

The GOP Treason and Plot has all the sexiness of Mitch McConnell. Jewish Lasers in Space notwithstanding, it has more to do with low-tech, extortion and payoff, organized crime, and classic corruption, with comic relief from multiple stooges.

Ah, JL. And I remember when there only 3 stooges. Those were the days..
