*You* are one of the heroes in this current season of turbulence and unrest; we recognize that today, and you will be remembered for your courage and determination and eloquence and intellect by historians of the future. Thank you, from the depths of our hearts.

Heather Cox Richardson is a heroine.

I like hero better. It doesn't sound watered-down.

No. No shero and no heroine, thank you. No pink pussy hats. LetтАЩs not do that. No need for genderizing a simple word. As a woman, I feel like it reduces us. It makes us smaller, weaker, the opposite of what we are trying to do. Just as actors, regardless of gender, are now referred to simply as actors - тАЬactressтАЭ is sort of a thing of the past - ANYONE can be a hero, man or woman. And Heather Cox Richardson is a great American hero, without a doubt. тЭдя╕ПтЭдя╕ПтЭдя╕П

There should be no gender-specific word for hero; either you are or you aren't (gender does not matter)!

As so many, many people have been heroes whose names are lost is the for the past and everyday. Some, obviously, are more salient than others, as are more consequential villains. I am thankful that this inauguration day coincides with MLK day, as, while the former stains this occasion, Rev. King's star shines even more brilliantly by contrast and reminds us that we have choices, and an opportunity grow and escape the imposed prison of extreme self-centeredness. To learn to love.

This Inauguration/MLK day coincidence makes me feel that there is a Greater Power, if only we can tap into It for this war on our democracy.

тАЬLove is the most durable power in the worldтАЭ.

тАЬThe meaning of love is not to be confused with some sentimental outpouring. Love is something much deeper than emotional

BoshтАЭ.

MLK Jr spoke of the darkness accentuating the stars. Last night I stopped to look at one particularly bright star. It was striking. That is how IтАЩm getting through this day. We have to transcend by focusing on the lasting truths further illuminated by this darkness. We will overcome. Thank you, Heather, for being such a bright star.

Dr Richardson, your article tonight reminds me of your Jan 8th interview with PoliticsGirl, where you said the two emotions that a speech moves people is OUTRAGE and SPIRITUAL empathy. When I asked Gemini AI tool for an example of both emotions in the same paragraphтАжthe one example was MLKтАЩs тАШI have a DreamтАЩ speech. You can see how King can describe the ugly hatred that he saw around him, but links it to a beautiful inspirational back end of the sentence.

I've been thinking of Miss Frank a lot since November 5th...

''It [heroism] means writing in your diary that you тАЬstill believe that people are really good at heart,тАЭ even while you are hiding in an attic from the men who are soon going to kill you, as Anne Frank did.''
