Hi 4Dan, I went through radiation treatments 6 years ago. They were a bugger. Rest when you need to, eat good food when you can, say "I love you" to someone every day, and try to accept the new reality you're in, knowing it is not permanent. Also, I found watching Youtube videos of people fixing/restoring things very restful and healing, for some reason. Peace to you.
D4N, just jump in whenever you are inclined or have the energy. My wife has been down that road. Surgery, chemo, radiation, more surgery and ten years of a nasty pill. A tough road to say the least.
I wish for you the same success she has had. Every year since, we have had the joy of reading the results of her annual screening that says "all clear". Phew.
My son faced chemo and radiation at the age of 42. Had a 5% survival rate for a rare cancer that usually shows up in people in their 70’s and heavy smokers. He was not.
He is cancer free now and sending his eldest son to college this year. I know somethings may sound counterintuitive, but walking, even just outside to a mailbox or driveway end makes an enormous difference in healing time.
Wishing you complete freedom from the illness you are now suffering. May the treatments work the best kind of magic and let you regain strength and vitality. ❤️
D4N, my heart is with you. I’m almost exactly three years out from the start of my treatment, and still no evidence of disease, and wishing you the same good result. A few things that helped me were yoga when I could and meditation when I couldn’t, audiobooks, and just staring out the window at my bird feeder. I had chemo simultaneously and didn’t want to eat much, but protein shakes went down ok and were calorie bombs. Lots of people get relief from gummies, although I didn’t. Oh! And every time I got on that wretched table, I visualized the beams sizzling the f**k out of those bastard tumors! Hang in there, and please keep us updated with your progress - we all care about you.

Years ago, when I was working in a job, trying to change people's (in power) attitudes about improving social safety nets and helping out vulnerable populations...my mentor said...we are seeking evolution, not revolution... Evolution happens slowly and avoids awaking the forces that would push back on change. Republicans have mastered the evolution social change method (unfortunately reversing decades of efforts that strengthened democracy). So much so, even Democrats have been complicit thinking their compromises were essential to governing. (Why didn't the democratic party pursue the 2016 Russian election interference of 2016 at all costs. If not through legal channels...then through massive media channels? Or through local channels like getting rid of the electoral system) Only now is the Democratic party understanding how pervasive and successful the Rs efforts have been.
They've done it so well ...we think it all started with Trump. It started long before and Heather Cox Richardson has done a beautiful job helping us see the undercurrents of anti-democracy efforts in play since the birth of our nation.

I read a few things recently about this. The media reports what is new, not what is important. We all know that Trump is like this; that he slurs and rambles and mistakes words and talks like a fascist. It’s not new, but it is very important. We also all have an expectation of competence from Biden, so when he makes a gaffe, the media thinks it’s important when it’s not. The two things are not the same.

In other words they keep the focus, the debate, on Biden and in the process keep people much more “passive” to the lunacy that is Trump. The MSM can claim there is “very lively debate” taking place but they (the MSM) are limiting it “within that spectrum”.
