Hard to embrace the perpetrators after Democracy being threatened of extinction for four years. It is such a relief to be able to breathe and to see a President working for the country and its citizens. It brings tears to my eyes. Thank you Heather for highlighting these moments. We need this for healing
My hope is Republicans will allow themselves to open to the possibility of embracing Democracy and denouncing self serving autocrats. I worked hard to defeat Susan Collins because of her inability to take a stand against the tax cuts for the millionaires, Justice Kavanaugh, etc. but now she takes a brave stand as Senator. I can applaud her for that. I pray with time we will be better able to work together. However as a psychotherapist who worked with trauma patients I know it takes a long time to heal. It will take me a while to recover from the last four years of watching our Democracy being replaced with fascism. It is moments of watching and hearing Biden wanting to work with Europe that lets me rest and breathe again.

It was breathtaking during the inauguration to watch Democracy replace fascism in real time. The healing has begun.
