Lorna, see at 5:34 minutes in on Jordan KlepperтАЩs recent vid interviewing Haley/Trump supportersтАжshows a fellow who spent, it seems, more than he could afford to lose on Trumpy stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud3btbISggA. Just imagine the difference such тАЬdonationsтАЭ could make to local food banks, or any number of тАЬpublic goodтАЭ endeavors. Sigh.
No one is mentioning Tim Mellon who financially backed Abbots string of wire. It was all right for Tim's Grandmother to come to this country from Ireland to marry Andrew Mellon. Tim had a rant about the Unpriviledge, how he would want to cut all their "hand outs" . Love Klepperer, and loved the video
The Trump family is from immigration too. Ireland and Germany. I think what we are witnessing from nearly all the MAGA crowd is racism. Disdain for "the other".
Spent some time on Facebook with Steve Philips (How We Win the Civil War) and he thinks Democrats should be trying to win Black and brown voters rather than chasing independent white suburbans.
Hope indeed!!! If one can change her/his mind AND WE HAVE GOOD MEDIA COVERAGE, more will follow. A great linkтАж thanksтАж need to see this type of news.
Yeah, Jennifer, the cluelessness is gobsmacking. The whole shebang is foretold in the movie тАЬIdiocracyтАЭтАФnever thought to see that movie play out in real life! Watched it again some months ago and it is not unlike a Klepper vid or Fox тАЬnewsтАЭ segment.
"The couple who says Mussolini is more like it as compared to Hitler!" I do think he is more like Mussolini, and I think he has imitated Mussolini's posturing. But sure that the couple had no clue about who Mussolini was.
Harvey, I think, even tho heтАЩs been doing this awhile, that it still stuns himтАжsometimes you can hear a hint of incredulity in his voice/tone, but he never disrespects those heтАЩs speaking with. Kinda like heтАЩs trying to ferret out тАЬhow can this be?тАЭ at its source.
Millions of dollars missing and not investigated, Mike?
Now you know why U.S. universities have more attending biz ed classes than any other (twice as many in biz ed as in all health sciences combined). Gotta learn the "skills" for sucking up to the billionaire criminal classes.
тАжit also comes from very wealthy Americans - oligarchs - who only care about lowering their taxes and ridding the country of regulations on business. Imagine no regulations on the food we eat and the water we drink!!
I forgot about that theft from the church. Amazing what you can get people to do in this life by promising them glory in the after. Sadly, they've been brainwashed since childhood and will never know this is it.
You might also want to check out Dark Money, many thanks to enabling by right wing Scotus.... short thrift to democratic concepts of "one person one vote"...
"enabling by right wing Scotus"--the abominable trifecta: Buckley (1976), Bellotti (1978), Citizens United (2010). When the Democrats control The White House and Congress, legislation to overturn these decisions (perhaps requiring an end of the Senate filibuster) that destroyed over a century of political reform and legalized bribery should be of top priority. Include a reference to Article III, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution: "...the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make." and tell the Supreme Court: Hands off! This legislation is passed outside of your jurisdiction. Perhaps followed by the creation of a permanent Standing Committee for the ethical oversight of the Supreme Court and changing life-time tenure of the "Justices" to fifteen years. (Allowing a second term might encourage good behavior.)
Thanks, and Amen! Somehow a more neutral form of appointment; both conservatives and liberals run separate legal societies who run queues for future judicial federal judges. Maybe force these societies to work in tandem ... or something new...
Plus the monies the Trump org has to pay for his sons, so add 8 mil there. We can also add in legal fees which are quite enormous. I have read that Trump is up to 50 mil in legal fees. It is an amount that a regular person just cannot imagine.
There are also mandatory court costs (eg, ~8,000 pages of transcripts), plus the fees for the monitor and the compliance officer. Then there are the fees for the defense's expert witnesses who charged $950-1,400 per hour for hundreds of hours of work, and, last but not least , there's the little matter of the attorneys' fees. To the latter two groups I say good luck seeing a dime.
It will be interesting to see what happens to family harmony now that DJTJ and Eric each have been fined ~$4M as ill-gotten gains from the sale of the Old Post Office but sister Ivanka, can keep her $4M because of something called tolling.
Overdraftfees..? Those are only things mortals pay while shuffling an overdue credit card payment onto a new 'balance transfer' with no interest for 2 years, in order to avoid that 29% interest/usury charge. But, I suppose those paying $4500 per month apartment rental don't have too much of a problem paying for life's simple amenities. So, 29% is no big deal. Meanwhile, the flag waving #45 supporter living in a 12x70 rundown mobil home, who can only afford the most-basic "amenities" at best, will pay that overdraft fee, and the interest, and try their best not to default on that 2 year no interest creditcard loan (cause you know what that will mean 29%!!). Probably no factor for #45 et al.
Trump's lawyers have lawyers and if any of them get stiffed, they all quit until they are paid. TFFG has been using campaign funds to pay for some of his litigation and his sycophants have also been pitching in, but in the end you can bet the lawyers will get paid. He is screwed if he tries to stiff ANY of his lawyers. Of course, he could always opt to represent himself. /S
HeтАЩs using the RNC coffers and donors like he did the banks! HeтАЩs the consummate fraudster even as he is defending himself of fraud. What idiots these donors are! My god, the redeemer role has so much power over them.
One the reasons he hasn't been able to get A-list attorneys is that he has a long-standing reputation for not paying his attorneys for the 4,000 plus law suits he's been involved in -- many for not paying his bills! Smart Christopher Kise, who is a B+ guy (or was until the taint of Trump rubs off on him) demanded $3M upfront before he would agree to take the engagement.
Another issue is that most of the major and even minor law firms have conflicts of interest with Trump or Trump, Inc. so no one in the firm can represent him -- not that they would want to. Besides not paying his lawyers, who wants to admit they "tried" to represent Trump or worse that he stiffed them.
Yup. Then there's the little issue of him being THE worst client in the world! Megalomaniac narcissists and pathological liars do not the best clients make.
MisTBlu: I think DJT тАЬfiredтАЭ Ronna Romney McDaniel when she said she would cut off GOP funding for his legal fees. But thereтАЩs still the Trump PACs and his small donors. They have all been paying his lawyers. So thatтАЩs how he continues to squirm out of paying and still has representation.
McDaniel cut off RNC funding for Trump's legal bills when he announced his run for president, as she had promised. That's one of the reasons he wants her out. The RNC paid ~$2M on the theory that some of the suits were politically motivated.
Pardon me for being skeptical, but I doubt very much if Trump will pay anything at all in fines. He is a huge fraudster, but I doubt heтАЩll ever see the inside of a jail cell. Justice is a shaky concept in the USA. As Trump demonstrated with his presidential pardons of convicted criminals, lots of people are above the law in the USA.
Terry, this is a good read about what Trump MUST do and what his alternatives are. Not many. JMO, but I think Humpty Dumpty has fallen off the wall. How he lands nobody knows.
The weekend will be filled with panicky family meetings and calls to bonding companies. I am going to guess that the whole Trump Organization is a facade - a con.
IтАЩm wondering if, being forced to sell a property or two, couldnтАЩt that expose some former wrong doing or other financial detail from a previous transaction? The only way Trump made it out of the last crash of 2007, was dark investments loans and sales and licensing deals from PutinтАЩs oligarchs via Deutsche Bank. Could a sale expose just a little of that sparking a wider investigation? I can only hope!
If TFFG appeals he is required to post a bond for the amount owed x 111%.
Who is going to give him that kind of money without it being secured by his real estate holding? Sure a few MAGANAZIs are rich and dumb enough but I don't see that happening. And his sheeple can't raise that kind of money for him.
He must be sweating bullets trying to figure out if he can afford to appeal.
And it's frightening to read elsewhere that, as the likely Repub nominee, he'll be receiving top secret briefings in less than 6 months. How much will he sell those for?
I wonder if that's something the Biden admin has control over -- after all, he was denied the courtesy of receiving such info post-presidency per Biden; I hope that this would be handled in a similar fashion.
Lynn, IтАЩve been wondering that too. IтАЩd like to see a list like the one David posted that enumerates the cost of all the investigations into J6, the cost of all those 61 lawsuits about the 2020 election, the cost of the time congress devotes to this like the cost of the second impeachment and the J6 committee, the costs of all these lawsuits against Trump, etc etc etc - all those costs that we the people are paying for.
Although unfortunate, it's a cost well worth bearing, as these various investigations and trials have necessarily exposed him and his grotesque misdeeds against our country and citizens.
True. I'm not sure how he can/will, but if it's possible he'll at least find a way to delay. I wonder what happens if he dies before he pays off his legally-incurred debts -- is his estate still responsible? Not sure of the answer, but I hope so.
Yeah..., this loser-of-a-soap opera has been costly to all of us. The obscene nature of it..., I'm at a loss for words. Perhaps, "hazardous waste - not suitable for a landfill" fits. It's not enough. A few hundred pounds of flesh might satisfy me. Not only am I livid at Trump, his family, and his enablers, I am livid that the idealism and mutual respect this country's residents had is shattered.
I retain faith that the pieces can be glued back together, but that will take years. Will I still be alive? My health and my lucky genetics say, "likely", but a calmer retirement with few worries about our kids' futures is still a ways away. A successful trouncing of MAGA in 2024 will go a long way in allaying my worries.
On a positive note, Navalny's murder may help isolate MAGA maniacs more. Speaker Johnson's comments might be about supporters of Putin within Congress, but also about Trump's continued losses in court. Trump is toast, though the toaster isn't hot enough for me
Cash or a Surety Bond is required before 30 days run out from the ruling. But, one needs to include Pre-Judgmet interest & of course, POST-judgment interest as well EstimatedTOTAL at $453.5 Million now.
I will have to scruitize the Engoron's ruling as there appear to be a finding of "Joint & Several" liability for Don Jr & Eric that will increase the size of the potatoes.
$50,000,000 - Trump legal fees (so far)
$88,000,000 - Trump total jury verdict to E Jean Carroll
$96,000,000 - Trump interest addon from Judge Engoron
$148,000,000 - Giuliani settlement with Shae Moss
$355,000,000 - Trump fine from Judge Engoron
$787,500,000 - Fox settlement to Dominion
$1,524,500,000 - TOTAL
Over One and a Half Billion dollars.
Lying and other shenanigans is getting expensive these days.
...and most of that money comes from where? The MAGA faithful.
A fair amount was hoovered from the pockets of US taxpayers.
Trump is living off charity - MAGAтАЩs flow of charity - until they see the light and shut it off.

Yes, that was pretty funny. MAGAts are dumb as rocks.

Barnum's law in action.
$60 million missing from his inauguration fund and $600 million missing from the RNC 2020 election fund. Neither of which was ever investigated.

I heard somewhere that the RNC was at some point down to its last $87

Jamie Dimon is probably good for a few mil.
It is like a tithe or indulgences in the Middle Ages, and some folks seem weirdly are all too happy to pay.

I doubt your memory is bad. I expect you just overloaded on trauma.
Wonder if the SaudiтАЩs will pay his debts?
Not Saudi Arabia?
Right. It was pointed out yesterday on TV by a couple people that although trump may have trouble paying his fine, it's loose change for Bonesaw.

The lawyers all require a very large up front retainer. And when it has been used up they don't work until TFFG pays up again.
Well, he won't be getting any refunds.
Your comment made me LOL. Thanks for that.
Progwoman: legal fees have been paid by this PAC, the RNC and his donors. ThatтАЩs probably the only way Trump gets lawyers.

That would be enough for The Don to go after her. Oh, and sheтАЩs a woman.
I doubt it has anything with her gender. Trump absolutely cannot handle anyone, male or female, who tells him no.
I would argue that there is a special place in TrumpтАЩs amygdala for uppity women.

Got that right Lynn.
Cash or a Surety Bond is required before 30 days run out from the ruling. But, one needs to include Pre-Judgmet interest & of course, POST-judgment interest as well EstimatedTOTAL at $453.5 Million now.
Thanks Bryan.
Add $8 million from Eric and Donny Jr.
Yeah, I intentionally left out "small potatoes" figures less than Fifty Million Dollars! LOL.
I will have to scruitize the Engoron's ruling as there appear to be a finding of "Joint & Several" liability for Don Jr & Eric that will increase the size of the potatoes.
Super post David!
