Even if Trump says that he will not retaliate against his foes. who would believe him?

Expand full comment

Trump actually said he would start retaliation on "Day 1" on the Hannity show last night.

So, not only is Trump not saying he will not retaliate, he has repeatedly, over and over, said he will aggressively seek out and "punish" or "jail" the "vermin" who have:

1. Placed the Constitution above loyalty to Trump.

2. Did not rule in his favor when given a chance in court.

3. Did not support him within his administration last time.

4. Media members who do not support him.

and the list goes on.

The thing to believe is what people say they will do. Trump has been crystal clear.

Trump Will Retaliate

It Will Be Ugly.

On Minute one, the second the oath is over, he will violate the word and the spirit. Who doubts…

Expand full comment

He will already have the executive orders ready to sign and his army of sycophants will be given a list of people to arrest. No proof needed.

SCOTUS is already diminishing their own power so Trump can dissolve the court. He will act as judge, jury and executioner.

But hey, Joe Biden is too old, so give TFFG another shot. /S

Jeri, he violated the Emoluments clause of the Constitution on day one in 2017. And it went downhill from there.

Expand full comment

He violated enough laws, traditions, settled law and just common sense, that he should have been tarred and feathered on day 2. He started way before his inauguration

I haven't seen the interview, but if you put those two together, Retaliation on day one, but only on day one is he talking about calling in his own coordinates for a nuclear bombing? The man is insane.

The wheels start grinding…and gather speed

Expand full comment

No, Jay, not insane, he's just supremely narcissistic!; totally feeling-driven.

Expand full comment

We know he's a narcissist. That's a good point to bring up now though. I think he wants to be a martyr. We sure as hell don't want a martyr president.

Marmalade Martyr….no offense to jam intended. Maybe the Mara Lago Martyr?

Yup. And on Day 2, Putin will invade Poland. He will be able to do so easily with the US out of his way: he’s got Donnie Rump in his pocket (or somewhere else where the sun don’t shine…).

Expand full comment

Mike S, I certainly believe T-Rump will do what he can to "punish" or "jail" "the vermin" who have transgressed his narcissistic feelings but in the broad scheme of things, he is totally unreliable as to what he actually does vs what he says, e.g.- How effective has that border wall ben that Mexico will pay for? How does that healthcare plan to replace the ACA look? etc.

A real mess. For sure.

"Except for day one". Day one would set the tone for and enable day 2 through whenever he dies.

Expand full comment

Only on day one, well, who doesn’t think that the plan is in place at 12:00 on Jan 20. And, every utterance is a lie, who needs more proof.

“Why is Tommy Tuberville doing that? Is he holding those positions open so that Donald Trump can fill them?".... DT: " Except on day one."

Expand full comment

Tommy is a white Christian Nationalist. They pick and choose which verses of the Bible they adhere to. Even the Ten Commandments are ignored. "Thou shall not commit adultery." Trump is a serial adulterer and a rapist and they want him to be their King."

Fortunately, in a rare moment of clarity, I believe Trump told the truth there! How did Hamburg respond?

Expand full comment

It is remarkable to me that Trump can tell any form of truth and not completely short-out somehow, or explode, like matter and antimatter. Yet I too, think on this occasion it wise to take him at his word. Ask Alexander Vindman.

Hannity. Hannity. Hannity. Why spellcheck would change the talk show host’s name to a city in Germany is very very puzzling. The context alone shows what the word should be, even if I spelled it wrong. So weird.

Expand full comment

Actually I thought you had given him a new, and somehow appropriate, nickname.

Hamburger? LOL!

Notes, certainly no more puzzl;ing than the original conversation transcribed by Heather: "So Hannity asked again. “Under no circumstances, you are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?” he asked.

“Except for day one,” Trump responded."

To the best of my parsing this appears to be a double negative question simplified to "you will abuse power in retribution against everybody"

and to which T-Rump replied with a further 3rd negative, holding day one as the one day he will NOT abuse power, etc; as syntactically confused as one can get!

Expand full comment

So why did Hannity ask the question? Is even he worried?

Expand full comment

Come on! Trump and truth in the same sentence? It's like black and orange, or matter and antimatter!

Ok I see that JL Graham beat me to that. Now I'm going to have to look up Cheney Maddow on YouTube and look for wavelengths.

Speaking of books, I've read Democracy Awakening, Prequel is at the top of my readiing list, and I'm on Chapter 13 of Oath and Honor. (I'm a slow reader.) Speaking of the latter, I've lost count of how many times Mike Johnson has been mentioned, but I would say he's in deep trouble. Spoiler alert: Liz says that she used to think of him as a friend.

Poor Liz and Dad, both helped create the mess and now the mess has turned on them. Almost fainted when the shot of Daddy showed up. I hope he pays for his crimes in this life and the next. Hard to believe that chump makes Dady Cheney look almost human. Strange world.

Yes. I blame Dick for Iraq and too many other things to mention. As far as I'm concerned he actually ran this country for W's first 7 years.

Into the ground, and the tea party cretins blamed Obama. Mind warp

Rephrase that please: Speaker Johnson IS BIG TROUBLE.

Let's hope so

Expand full comment

Wow. Liz Cheney thought of what looks like a deeply closeted Christian Nationalist as a friend! Well, it took attempted treason for her to notice Trump was a creep.

Expand full comment

He is vengeful. He can't accept the truth, which makes him delusiaonal and dangerous.

Expand full comment

His answer to Hannity's question was "Except on day one." Given that answer, there is no doubt whatsoever what he would do it he were re-elected.
