No, he's been trying to *become* the press, and has for years. He has long manipulated the genuine and credentialed journalists by acting as a "source" to propagate his message while calling out MSM as "Fake News". This has opened up a place in the very low end of the journalistic spectrum for pseudo-journos to fill (think Newsmax, OAN, etc.) and he amplifies their products. During his term, the WH Press Room was practically turned into his comms office, by berating and removing credentialed, respected reporters while giving access to shills. He forces media to bend to his will and whim, and deliver his messages of madness, and many are all too willing to repeat them. Look what he did to Faux News: they were his favorite source (until they weren't) and they spread his lies; now are on the hook for nearly $800 million. This is what has happened to our once-proud media.
