What "innocents"? You are beyond self parody; the Democrats act like spoiled brats who didn't get their afternoon snack. Unserious, un-American and childlike in their beliefs. Making up ridiculous narratives about things that didn't happen. Death to innocents, my derriere; people who physically interfere while police are taking down a dangerous criminal have no sense of self-preservation. Both of these people are eligible for the Darwin award.
Embarrassing lack of historical context. We ELECTED him, the majority of us ELECTED him, so he represents our wishes. Tough luck man, sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Trump is many things; but a King he is certainly not. What is it about our duly and legally elected President that is, illegal? What has he done that is illegal? He has won 21 of 23 SC emergency decrees, why do the activist judges keep thinking that someone how they should be running things and not the President? They shut down his non-taxpayer funded ballroom just to be spiteful; twice in one week and each time he went back to the authorities and did it the right way. There is nothing he has done that is illegal. He promises and then delivers for all of us whether you like it or not.
+ 1.6 % plurality doesn’t make him a ‘man of the people’ or their wishes.
Many now *regret their vote for him, many votes were outright influenced with Musk money & his & Barron’s social media appeals to young male 1st-time voters … to say nothing of the GOP’s various propaganda outlets FOX, Breitbart, OAN etc.
— A fortune was spent by oligarchs & dark money getting Trump back into office : a bought seat that he is making the laugh of the century!
He’s always been afraid of being laughed at … but he keeps shooting *himself in the foot … thinking he can do no wrong … 😅
Nobody regrets their vote for him. A fortune was spent to elect him? Where do you get this dribble and lies? Dems just make things up and pretend they are true, no proof needed, just pure theatre and it's bad theatre at that. But it's ok to spend outside and foreign dark money for them-to date over $70 million, to turn a half and half state -Virginia-into a Dem only state? That kind of money? Or how about that $400 million Zuckerberg gave to the Joe obama reelection campaign? Or how about Soros funding for all the idiotic No Kings Rally? Yeah, that's real "grass roots" isn't it?
Just can't stand the truth, huh Brian? Do you not think that the Dems are totally corrupt and their overarching desire is to take American down so they can rule over the ashes? Wake up, you and your fears are being played by the Dems so that no further rational thought is possible. Sorry for you.
Me, too! I wonder how deep they'll have to make the bunker to believe it will take a direct A bomb attack. Hopefully it can be much smaller than the ballroom.
You obviously don't love or respect your freedom or your country. I can't think of anything more petty than the noise from the left criticizing all the good things that the President does. He and other private citizens are paying for this-not the taxpayers-which is the exact opposite of the last administration who couldn't keep their hands off of our assets. Nothing illegal about it, except for the Left who scream and cry about everything.
Why do people always have to resort to sandbox politics when they cannot defend their own positions? Not one person here has told which of the facts I wrote are "lies". And neither can you.
Heather, I have a piece of living history in my dining room in Morristown, New Jersey. My husband and I have had it for almost 30 years. It is a copper, iron, and brass sign from Peggy Stewart's Tea Room, that was a thriving establishment in Baltimore, Md. at the time of the Tea tax. According to a book we received when we purchased the sign, the proprietor burned his tea ships in protest of the tea tax prior to the Boston Tea Party. We bought it, and many artifacts, from a nautical antiques store on Cape Cod that has been out of business for many years. The Peggy Stewart's Tea Room sign is one of our cherished, authentic pieces of Revolutionary War history.
''Patriots’ Day Is Not a Costume. It Is a Warning''
Patriots’ Day is not important because Americans need another round of pageantry, nostalgia, and recycled reverence. It matters because this day carries a living instruction. The battles of Lexington and Concord were not simply the opening clash of the American Revolution. They were a declaration that power is not entitled to obedience when it has severed itself from consent, accountability, and law.
That is the lesson Americans sorely need on April 20, 2026.
Democracy does not preserve itself. It survives only when citizens refuse to normalize unchecked power and choose, together, to restrain it. That is not alarmism. It is one of the oldest truths in American public life.... https://essayx.substack.com/p/patriots-day-is-not-a-costume-it
Thank You Heather! Hopefully, we will all be nonviolently participating in our🇺🇸250th Anniversary. Get rid of that “imposter” with the orange hair in The White House, he doesn’t belong there.
Will we ever learn. And we must for it is time to dethrone this wanna be king, and prosecute all those who have been complicit in this regime. If Hungary can do it in 2026, so can we. Thank you HCR
Thank you Heather! As the 5th? great grandson of a man and his brother from PA who fought in the revolutionary war and were given mountain top acreage afterwards, I just want to commend you for the work that you are doing reminding anyone of our history and presenting it in such a way that it seems more relevant, therefore worthwhile to take in. Keep up the good work! We need to hear this, so we are not doomed to re-live it.
"NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION." Are we not at that point of contention with Congress? The ball has been in Congress, which has no court in which to play. Having given it to the Executive branch by way of SCOTUS. We, the people, have no voice or protection and can do nothing to stop this 2x elected monster from not only destroying America but the world itself. One Tomahawk missile, 165 dead children = one branch of government = US! We are their murderers. We are the bad guys. And we won't stop...until the rest of the world stops us! So get ready for the boom, booms, pew, pews, and the mushrooms ~ bon appétit.
Heather, I have written a book you will like. It is called Saving Miz Liberty, doctors diagnosing and recommending treatments for a dying Statue of Liberty. I will send a copy when it launches.
Thank you, Heather, for inspiring yet another of my daily political poems—this one expounding on your question…
Could The King Be Checked By The People?
Could the King be checked by the People?
A man who’d abused his power?
Who’d deprived his subjects of God-given rights
assuming that they would cower
before his royal visage
when acting without their consent?
Who outside the bounds of established law
had ordered that troops be sent
into the streets of their cities?
A man who had deigned to proclaim
that his arbitrary authority
was supreme and divinely ordained?
Two hundred fifty years ago
we gave our answers to George—
and now as we suffer the King from Queens
will it be the same as before?
Dale K. Nichols

Yes, The effeminate ‘King from Queens’
Who himself has never raised his own fists to fight
Causes death to innocents whose futures might have been
As glorious as any other’s, had the cursed King ‘seen the light’.
Very nice!
Thank You, the thought of ‘equality before our Maker AND Man’ is esp nice.
That the King might ‘see the light’ is a bit far-fetched, as he is quite ‘t e t c h e d’! (Auto-correct won’t allow t’d, how do you beat it?)
I hear Bitcoin / Funny Money is getting rattled … I cd never make rhyme nor reason there — good luck with that one!

Latest article demonstrating your ‘every accusation is an admission” here:
DOJ’s First ‘Weaponization’ Report Is a Bust
The document purports to show bias under the Biden administration—and fails spectacularly. 😅
Ditto Drunken Kash Patel. 🙄 ‘They're Losers, and they’re not what they (try to) appear to be!’ 🎶

tearing down a large portion of the white house with no authorization was really illegal and breaks my heart.

Your B.S. isn’t worth the trouble for real debate.
I do notice that pro-Trumpers often use Dem (or world opinion) arguments because they have 1. no imagination 2. no basis in fact/reality.
"Nobody regrets their vote for him."

Hey, Laurie, How's that 1 Billion dollar NON TAX PAYER FUNDED BALL ROOM WORKING FOR YOU???
I love the history, thank you!!
I think we need to check the fake King that’s now running the country into the ground.
Totally, but that is Congress's job now. See Constitution.

What a wonderful synopsis of this time period. Thank you yet again for such brilliant writing and clear expanation with footnotes.
So grateful for you, Heather Cox Richardson. Thank you for reminding us of our courageous history. And so much more.

Trump and his allies are corrupted.
The bravery of that time amazes me.
